Ethereum Wallet Growth: What It Really Reveals About Network Adoption and Price

Ethereum wallet growth is frequently cited as evidence that blockchain adoption is accelerating. More addresses holding ETH or interacting with the network can indicate expanding participation, but wallet statistics are easy to misinterpret. An Ethereum address does not necessarily represent one person, and one person can control hundreds or thousands of addresses. Understanding that distinction is essential when interpreting on-chain adoption.

Wallet Addresses Measure Accounts, Not People

Ethereum is pseudonymous. Blockchain data records addresses and transactions rather than verified individual identities. Consequently, counting addresses cannot produce an accurate count of Ethereum users. A trader might operate separate wallets for long-term holdings, decentralized finance, NFTs, and testing. Institutions and exchanges can control numerous addresses, while a single exchange address can represent assets belonging to thousands of customers. Automated bots can create additional addresses without representing additional human users.

    Active Addresses Provide Different Information

Analysts therefore frequently examine active addresses rather than total addresses. An active-address metric generally counts addresses that send or receive transactions during a defined period. Growth can indicate increasing blockchain activity, but it still measures participating addresses rather than unique people. Activity can also change based on market conditions. During periods of intense trading, token launches, or airdrop campaigns, existing users may create more wallets or interact more frequently. Address growth can therefore increase even without equivalent growth in the number of people using Ethereum.

Layer 2 Networks Complicate Ethereum Metrics

Ethereum’s scaling strategy creates another measurement challenge. Increasing amounts of user activity occur on Layer 2 networks rather than directly on Ethereum Mainnet. Rollups execute transactions outside Layer 1 before settling data or proofs back to Ethereum. A Mainnet-only wallet metric can miss activity occurring across Ethereum’s broader scaling ecosystem. Wallet applications themselves increasingly support multiple Layer 2 networks. Ethereum.org’s wallet directory evaluates products partly on Ethereum-native and Layer 2 support, illustrating how wallets are evolving into multi-network interfaces.

Wallet Growth Does Not Equal Investment Demand

More wallets also do not automatically mean ETH demand or price must rise. An address can hold negligible ETH, interact primarily with stablecoins, or exist only temporarily. Conversely, institutional custodians may hold substantial ETH through relatively few addresses. Useful adoption analysis therefore combines wallet statistics with transaction activity, fees, stablecoin transfers, decentralized application usage, Layer 2 activity, and capital flows. No individual metric captures the entire network.

    Final Thoughts

Ethereum wallet growth measures changes in blockchain addresses, not a verified population of investors or users. It can reveal important activity trends, particularly when combined with active-address and transaction data, but interpreting it as direct evidence of user growth or future ETH price performance can produce misleading conclusions.

    FAQs

    1. What does Ethereum wallet growth measure?
Ethereum wallet growth tracks changes in blockchain addresses holding assets or interacting with the network. It can indicate expanding activity but does not directly measure the number of individual Ethereum users.
    2. Does one Ethereum address represent one user?
No. One person can control multiple Ethereum addresses, while exchanges and custodians can use individual addresses to hold assets belonging to thousands of customers.
    3. What are active Ethereum addresses?
Active addresses generally refer to addresses that send or receive transactions during a specified period. They provide insight into network activity but still cannot identify the number of unique human users.
    4. Why do Layer 2 networks complicate Ethereum wallet statistics?
Much of Ethereum’s activity occurs on Layer 2 networks before settling back to Ethereum. Looking only at Mainnet addresses may miss activity taking place across the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
    5. Does increasing Ethereum wallet growth mean ETH prices will rise?
Not necessarily. Wallet growth does not directly measure investment demand, as addresses can hold small balances or mainly use stablecoins and applications. ETH prices are influenced by many additional market factors.

  • XRP Price Slides to $1.09 as Active Addresses Hit 2026 Lows and ETF Outflows Return

XRP Price Slides to $1.09 as Active Addresses Hit 2026 Lows and ETF Outflows Return

XRP traded at $1.09 after falling 1.39% over the past 24 hours, underperforming the broader crypto market as network activity, institutional demand, and derivatives trading weakened.

The total crypto market value slipped 0.58%, while Bitcoin fell 0.62%. XRP faced additional pressure from declining active addresses, exchange-traded fund (ETF) outflows, and reduced leveraged trading. However, whale accumulation and negative valuation metrics suggest long-term positioning remains intact.

XRP Ledger Activity Falls to 2026 Lows

Daily active addresses on the XRP Ledger dropped to 25,350 on July 11, marking the network’s second-lowest daily reading of 2026. New wallet creation also fell to 2,130, its lowest level since November 2024.

The decline follows a brief rise in activity during late June, when traders bought XRP during a market pullback. That demand has since faded, leaving the token without enough spot buying pressure to support a stronger rebound.

Network participation has weakened across multiple timeframes. Active addresses measured over 24 hours, seven days, and 30 days have fallen since January. Whale transaction counts have also moved lower during the same period.

Meanwhile, XRP Ledger products still provide potential sources of future activity, including RLUSD stablecoin growth, tokenized assets, payment services, and planned lending tools. A rise in these areas could bring more users back to the network.

XRP ETF Outflows Reduce Institutional Demand

U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded $7.29 million in net outflows on July 8, ending a nine-week inflow streak and pushing total assets held by the funds below $1 billion. The change reduced a steady source of institutional buying. ETF inflows had supported demand during previous weeks, but the latest outflow suggests fund investors have adopted a more cautious position.

Derivatives traders have also reduced exposure. XRP futures open interest on Binance fell to about 397 million XRP, its lowest level in more than three months. Broader market data shows total open interest dropping from $1.32 billion to $764.57 million.

Lower open interest indicates that traders have closed leveraged positions. This reduces the chance of forced liquidations but also removes buying power that can support short-term price rallies.

Whale Accumulation Meets Bearish Price Structure

Large wallets holding between 10 million and 100 million XRP have accumulated tokens throughout 2026. At the same time, wallets holding between 100,000 and 10 million XRP have reduced balances.

Several market value to realized value measures remain below zero. The 30-day, 180-day, one-year, and three-year readings show that many holders still own XRP below their purchase prices.

XRP also recorded negative network realized profit and loss readings in early July. An Age Consumed spike on July 1 showed that older tokens moved after long periods of inactivity, which can occur during heavy selling phases.

Nevertheless, the XRP price remains inside a descending channel that started after its July 2025 peak near $3.65. Immediate support sits near $1.07, followed by the $1.00 psychological level.

A daily close above $1.15 could open a move toward the channel resistance near $1.22 to $1.28. Buyers would still need to reclaim the $1.40 to $1.60 range to change the wider price structure.

A break below $1.07 could expose the $1.00 to $1.02 zone, while deeper market weakness may bring $0.80 back into focus.

  • XRP Active Addresses Jump 72% as Bulls Defend $1 Support Level

XRP Active Addresses Jump 72% as Bulls Defend $1 Support Level

XRP is attracting fresh market attention after a sharp rise in network activity, even as the cryptocurrency continues to trade close to an important support level. Data from Santiment showed daily active addresses increased from about 23,000 on June 14 to nearly 39,500 by June 27.

Technical signals remain mixed. XRP still trades below key moving averages although some chart patterns suggest selling pressure may be starting to ease. Market participants are now watching whether buyers can defend support around the $1.04 to $1.06 range.

Active addresses rise as XRP holds key support

Daily active addresses climbed by roughly 72% over two weeks, according to data shared by crypto analyst Ali Martinez, based on Santiment metrics. The increase reflects more wallets interacting with the XRP Ledger during a period when the token continued trading near $1.05. Higher blockchain activity suggests that more users are active on the network.

In addition, market analysts point to accumulation by large holders during the recent market decline. However, weak sentiment across the broader cryptocurrency market has continued to weigh on XRP. Furthermore, the token remains well below the price levels it traded at earlier this year.

Some analysts stated that XRP price may be forming a base instead of extending its decline. They noted that holding above the psychological $1 support remains important for the current market structure.

Technical signals point to possible recovery

Several technical indicators now suggest that selling pressure may be slowing. Analysts identified a Tom DeMark Sequential buy signal together with a Morning Star Doji pattern on the daily chart. These formations often appear after extended declines although they do not guarantee a reversal.

Analysts also noted that XRP needs to establish support between $1.07 and $1.10 before buyers can target higher resistance levels. A sustained move above that range could shift attention toward $1.15, followed by $1.21 and possibly $1.30 if buying volume strengthens.

The Relative Strength Index has also moved closer to oversold territory. Crypto analyst CryptoLlica said the indicator reached its lowest reading in more than 13 years. According to the analyst, “the RSI has reached its most oversold level since XRP launched.” Market participants continue monitoring whether this condition leads to renewed buying interest.

Despite these signals, XRP remains below its 50-day and 200-day simple moving averages. These levels indicate that the broader trend has not yet turned bullish.

Analysts focus on resistance levels and market catalysts

Open interest in XRP derivatives has declined from about $1.18 billion to nearly $1.04 billion. Funding rates have also turned negative after recent long liquidations reduced leveraged positions. Analysts said the reset could reduce downside pressure if spot demand improves.

Technical indicators still show limited momentum. The MACD remains close to neutral, while the Stochastic Oscillator and Ultimate Oscillator suggest the market has not yet established a clear direction. As a result, traders continue watching the $1.04 to $1.06 support zone for confirmation of the next move.

Market forecasts also remain conditional. According to an analysis, “if XRP holds above the $1 support while network activity continues rising, the price could move toward the $1.20 to $1.35 range.” The same outlook noted that a break below $1 would weaken the recovery scenario.

Beyond price action, analysts are also monitoring developments surrounding tokenized real-world assets. Reports estimate that the XRP Ledger hosts about $330 million in tokenized RWAs, while Stellar manages a much larger share of that market. Traders are also watching the proposed CLARITY Act in the United States which could become another factor influencing institutional sentiment if lawmakers advance the legislation in July.
