  • Bitcoin ETFs Shed $460 Million as Ethereum Funds Extend Inflow Streak

Bitcoin ETFs Shed $460 Million as Ethereum Funds Extend Inflow Streak

Spot Bitcoin ETFs turned red for the first time since mid-August, losing more than $460 million over four business days last week. Ethereum ETFs moved in the opposite direction during the same stretch, pulling in fresh money as the underlying asset pushed toward an eight-month high.

The shift played out across US-listed exchange-traded funds tracking both cryptocurrencies, with data from SoSoValue showing a clear split in investor sentiment. Bitcoin’s outflows followed a strong run in August, while Ethereum extended its winning streak into a fourth straight week.

    Bitcoin Funds Reverse Inflow Trend

Bitcoin ETFs recorded their best week in months between August 17 and 21, pulling in over $1.9 billion as the price jumped from under $65,000 to nearly $80,000. That momentum carried into the following two weeks too, with $924 million and $986 million in net inflows. Last week broke that pattern.

Outflows began on Tuesday at $46.65 million, followed by $120.24 million on Wednesday, $282.56 million on Thursday, and $13.29 million on Friday, the same day fresh inflation data landed. Total net inflows for Bitcoin funds slipped from $55.62 billion to $55.15 billion. Bitcoin’s price also swung sharply, dropping to $76,000 before climbing to $79,800 and settling back near its starting point.

    Ethereum ETFs Maintain Strong Inflows

Ethereum ETFs followed a bumpier path early in the week, with $24.29 million leaving on Monday before $34.75 million came back in on Wednesday. Thursday saw another $29.76 million in outflows. Friday changed everything, as net inflows hit a two-week high of $216.41 million. Ethereum’s price spiked more than 8% within an hour of the inflation report, touching $2,670 before settling near $2,500.

Only one of the last ten weeks saw Ethereum ETFs post outflows, and that dip stayed small at just $2.26 million. Total net inflows for Ethereum funds climbed from under $10.89 billion to $13.39 billion over that period.

    What’s Next for Crypto ETFs?

Markets now turn their attention to the CLARITY Act, which heads to the US Senate next week, along with the Federal Reserve’s upcoming rate decision, both of which could shape investor flows into crypto ETFs going forward.

  • Morgan Stanley Lists MSSE ETF as Ethereum Funds Attract $14.53M in Daily Inflows

Morgan Stanley Lists MSSE ETF as Ethereum Funds Attract $14.53M in Daily Inflows

Morgan Stanley has listed its MSSE exchange-traded fund, a spot Ethereum ETF, which coincided with $14.53 million in daily net inflows across existing spot Ethereum funds. The development marks a significant step in the firm’s expansion into regulated crypto investment products, offering investors a new institutional access point without the need to directly hold the underlying asset.

MSSE Expands Morgan Stanley’s Crypto Offerings

The MSSE ETF listing represents another milestone in Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s push into exchange-traded crypto products. The firm has also announced Ethereum and Solana products, diversifying beyond its earlier Bitcoin-focused offerings. MSSE provides investors with regulated, exchange-traded exposure to Ethereum, separating it from the broader spot Ethereum ETF basket. This distinction is crucial because the $14.53 million inflow figure reflects combined activity across existing spot Ethereum funds, not the newly listed MSSE product alone.

Morgan Stanley has further widened crypto access through its brokerage operations. Its E*TRADE unit has launched spot cryptocurrency trading, and updated Ethereum and Solana documents name Coinbase for custody and staking services. The firm’s Ether and Solana product debut follows the performance of its Bitcoin fund, which has shown active management through withdrawals from Coinbase Prime.

Ethereum ETF Inflows Signal Growing Demand

Spot Ethereum ETFs posted $14.53 million in net inflows during the trading session, indicating that these funds attracted more capital than they lost. While a single day’s data only captures a brief shift in market demand, continued inflows in subsequent reports would strengthen the demand signal. Conversely, renewed outflows would weaken it. Trading activity in MSSE will provide another reference point, and Ethereum’s price response will show whether fund demand aligns with stronger market performance.

The key question remains: Can sustained ETF demand offset the caution created by large whale transfers near a repeatedly tested price area?

Whale Transfers Test ETH Support Levels

Ali Charts reported that 226,435 ETH, worth approximately $430 million, moved during the previous 24 hours, ranking among the largest daily whale activity spikes in recent months. These movements may include sales, internal transfers, or broader wallet redistribution. Their scale adds attention because Ethereum has faced several rejection attempts around the current price region. Ali Charts identified $1,733 as the key level to monitor, with a loss of that level pausing the current bullish outlook. The $1,711-to-$1,773 area forms the immediate support zone, between the 0.236 Fibonacci mark and the lower Bollinger Band.

Merlijn The Trader described Ethereum’s June fall to $1,520 as a shakeout that cleared buyers from the $1,745-to-$2,500 range. ETH later recovered above $1,860, with expectations of another dip toward the range low before a larger move develops. This outlook becomes invalid if Ethereum records a weekly close below $1,550.

    Summary

Morgan Stanley’s MSSE listing expands regulated crypto access as spot Ethereum ETFs attract $14.53 million in daily net inflows. However, large whale transfers and Ethereum’s support zone create a near-term test. Market participants now await sustained fund inflows, MSSE trading activity, and ETH’s response around $1,733.
