  • MCX Gold Slips 0.27% to Rs 1,48,800 Amid US-Iran Tensions and Rising Oil Prices

MCX Gold Slips 0.27% to Rs 1,48,800 Amid US-Iran Tensions and Rising Oil Prices

Gold prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) declined on September 29 as geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz continued to push energy costs higher, increasing pressure on the Federal Reserve to maintain elevated interest rates.

October gold futures fell 0.27% to Rs 1,48,500 per 10 grams, while September silver futures dropped 0.46% to Rs 2,46,130. In the international market, Brent crude futures rose 1.80% to USD 107.2 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained 1.75% to USD 94.22 per barrel.

    Domestic Gold Prices

In India, 24K gold fell by Rs 137 to Rs 1,48,800 per 10 grams, and 22K gold declined by Rs 125 to Rs 1,36,400. City-wise, Mumbai and Kolkata reported prices of Rs 1,48,800, Delhi at Rs 1,48,950, and Chennai at Rs 1,49,080.

    US Gold Prices

In the United States, gold prices edged higher on Tuesday but remained near their lowest level in over seven weeks amid concerns that the Fed could keep rates higher for longer. Spot gold rose 0.4% to USD 4,130.58 per ounce, while US gold futures fell 0.2% to USD 4,162.20. Spot silver declined 0.9% to USD 60.42, platinum slipped 1.3% to USD 1,697.71, and palladium lost 0.8% to USD 1,205.27.

    Key Levels to Watch

Christopher Tahir, senior market strategist at Exness, noted: “Geopolitical developments will remain crucial for gold, as continued tensions could keep energy prices and yields elevated, while meaningful progress toward de-escalation could ease pressure. Persistent price pressures combined with resilient activity would reinforce expectations that central banks need to remain restrictive, keeping yields elevated and leaving gold vulnerable to further losses.”

On the daily chart, XAU/USD trades at USD 4,130, holding below the 20-day, 50-day, and 100-day simple moving averages clustered between roughly USD 4,290 and USD 4,330, which keeps the near-term bias bearish. The Relative Strength Index (14) near 36 suggests weak momentum but not outright oversold conditions, hinting that bears retain control.

Immediate support is seen at the rising trend-line base near USD 3,990, where dip-buying interest could emerge if the current pullback extends. On the upside, the first resistance band is defined by the 100-day SMA at USD 4,292, followed closely by the 50-day SMA at USD 4,321 and the 20-day SMA at USD 4,325, forming a dense supply zone that gold would need to reclaim to ease bearish pressure.

Gold prices held firm on Thursday, September 24, although rates edged slightly lower after a recent rally. Investors are closely monitoring global inflation signals, interest-rate expectations, and developments in energy markets. In India, the latest retail rates show only a marginal increase from the previous session for major gold purities, while international prices remain above the $4,000-per-ounce mark. Rates can vary between jewelers and locations; the figures quoted below are indicative.

On a 10-gram basis, the corresponding prices are ₹1,54,210 for 24K, ₹1,41,360 for 22K, and ₹1,15,660 for 18K gold. The latest rates represent a marginal increase of ₹1 per gram across the three purities compared with the previous day’s quoted rates.

MCX gold futures traded lower in early activity. The October contract was around ₹1,51,360 per 10 grams, down 0.89% from the previous close at the time of the latest available update. Retail prices do not include GST, TCS, making charges, and other applicable levies, meaning the final amount paid by consumers can be higher.

Gold Rate in the USA Today

In the US, 24K gold is priced at $141.50 per gram, 22K gold at $136.50 per gram, and 18K gold at $111.70 per gram. All three rates were lower than the previous day’s levels. Meanwhile, the international spot market hovered around $4,285–$4,290 per troy ounce in early trading on September 24. The previous day’s close was around $4,283, according to live market data.

    Key Takeaways for Gold Buyers

Gold continues to trade at historically high levels despite short-term fluctuations. In India, 24K gold remains above ₹15,000 per gram, while international spot gold is holding above $4,000 an ounce. For buyers, the quoted retail rates should be treated as a reference rather than the final purchase price. Jewelry bills will also reflect purity, making charges, GST, and other applicable costs. Global movements in the dollar, interest-rate expectations, inflation, and geopolitical developments will remain important factors for gold prices in the coming sessions.

Gold Price Update: MCX Gold Holds Steady at Rs. 1,53,171 as Oil Prices Decline, Brent at $101.6

Gold traded flat on MCX on September 22 amid a continued decline in oil prices over the past few sessions, which reduced expectations of further interest-rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. October gold futures rose 0.05% to Rs. 1,53,171 per 10 grams, while September silver futures advanced 0.13% to Rs. 2,39,620.

Meanwhile, Brent crude futures rose 1.25% to USD 101.6 per barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) edged higher by 0.96% to USD 93.26 per barrel.

    Domestic Gold Prices

24K gold rose by Rs. 17 to Rs. 1,54,750 per 10 grams, while 22K gold also advanced by Rs. 15 to Rs. 1,41,850. By city, Mumbai and Kolkata mirrored prices at Rs. 1,54,750, while Delhi was at Rs. 1,54,900 and Chennai at Rs. 1,54,750.

    US Gold Prices

US gold prices struggled for momentum on Tuesday as expectations of interest rates staying higher for longer weighed on sentiment, with investors awaiting comments from US Federal Reserve officials for policy clues. Spot gold declined 0.08% at USD 4,340.26 per ounce. US gold futures fell 0.18% at USD 4,376.20. Spot silver fell by 0.12% to USD 65.95 per ounce while platinum dipped 0.81% to USD 1,789.83 and palladium declined 0.94% at USD 1,295.78 per ounce.

    Key Levels to Watch

With US economic data limited this week, investors will focus on comments from Fed officials for signs of whether the central bank is leaning toward another rate increase in October, as well as on crude oil prices, said Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone.

“While crude has come modestly off its recent highs, a reversal higher that builds inflation expectations would only intensify the rates story, and gold would likely continue to face headwinds,” said Weston.

XAU/USD traded around USD 4,340 on the daily chart, holding just above the medium-term moving averages. The 50-day simple moving average (SMA) at USD 4,300 and the 100-day SMA at USD 4,320 sit below price and suggest underlying trend support, while USD 4,400 acts as immediate resistance. The ongoing test of the rising support trendline around USD 4,340 keeps the broader uptrend intact, and a neutral near-term bias is supported by the Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovering close to the 50 line at 48.5.

On the topside, immediate resistance emerges at USD 4,400, with a more significant barrier at the 200-day SMA around USD 4,542. On the downside, support clustered around USD 4,340 is the first level to watch; a daily close below it would expose USD 4,320.

MCX Gold Edges Up 0.21% to ₹1,53,309 as Oil Prices Drop Over 1% – September 18 Update

Gold traded higher on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on September 18, 2026, supported by a significant decline in crude oil prices. October gold futures rose 0.21% to ₹1,53,309 per 10 grams, while September silver futures advanced 0.55% to ₹2,39,522 per kilogram.

The fall in oil prices was notable: Brent crude futures dropped 1.06% to $103.7 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fell 1.08% to $100.8 per barrel. Lower oil prices generally ease inflation pressures and reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-interest-bearing assets like gold, which supported the precious metal.

    Domestic Gold Prices

In the domestic market, 24K gold rose by ₹154 to ₹1,54,420 per 10 grams, while 22K gold gained ₹145 to ₹1,41,50. Prices varied across cities: Mumbai and Kolkata recorded ₹1,54,420, Delhi at ₹1,54,570, and Chennai at ₹1,53,590.

    US Gold Prices

Internationally, spot gold inched up 0.57% to $4,336.64 per ounce on Friday, aided by a subdued US dollar and falling oil prices. US gold futures gained 0.14% to $4,405.75 per ounce. Other precious metals also advanced: spot silver rose 1.38% to $66.11, platinum gained 1.46% to $1,798.36, and palladium climbed 2.38% to $1,313.50.

    Key Levels & Analyst Insight

According to Ahmad Assiri, research strategist at Pepperstone, the link between gold and oil could weaken if oil corrects sharply, easing inflation and rate-hike expectations, or if extreme geopolitical tensions force global recession measures. Goldman Sachs maintained its end-2027 gold price forecast at $5,400 despite recent Fed rate increases, stating that tighter policy may slow bullion’s rally but not derail it.

On MCX, gold has support at ₹1,51,650 and ₹1,50,500, with resistance at ₹1,53,800 and ₹1,55,000. For silver, support lies at ₹2,36,000 and ₹2,33,300, while resistance is at ₹2,40,400 and ₹2,43,000.

MCX Gold Prices Rise 0.57% to Rs 1,51,670 as Oil Slips and Fed Decision Nears

Gold prices traded higher on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Wednesday, September 16, as a modest pullback in crude oil prices and market anticipation of the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision kept bullion in focus.

October gold futures climbed 0.57% to Rs 1,51,670 per 10 grams, while September silver futures advanced 1.33% to Rs 2,35,195. The rise came even as the US dollar and bond yields firmed ahead of the Fed’s expected rate move.

In the energy markets, Brent crude futures slipped 0.74% to USD 107.9 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) eased 1.09% to USD 104.7 per barrel. Market Outlook and Key Levels

Frank Walbaum, market analyst at trading platform Naga.com, noted that a hawkish Fed could pull gold lower, while softer messaging might ease rate-hike expectations and help the metal recover. He added that traders are also monitoring oil prices and developments in the Middle East.

Key levels to watch internationally: gold has support at USD 4,310-USD 4,264 per troy ounce and resistance at USD 4,355-USD 4,400. MCX Gold Slips 0.14% to Rs 1,52,370 as Middle East Tensions and Fed Rate Hike Expectations Weigh

Gold prices moved lower on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on September 9, pressured by rising inflationary concerns after fresh attacks on ships in the Middle East and growing expectations of a US interest rate hike. October gold futures fell 0.14% to Rs 1,52,370 per 10 grams, while September silver futures declined 0.13% to Rs 2,39,113.

    Oil Prices Edge Higher

Brent crude futures climbed 1.46% to USD 99.35 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 1.30% to USD 94.24 per barrel, adding to inflation worries in global markets.

    Fed Rate Hike Expectations

According to the CME FedWatch Tool, markets currently price in a 39.5% probability that the Federal Reserve will keep rates unchanged in September, and a 60.5% chance of a rate hike. The possibility of higher borrowing costs continues to cap gold’s upside momentum.

    Domestic Gold Prices

In the Indian domestic market, 24K gold fell by Rs 104 to Rs 1,54,310 per 10 grams, while 22K gold declined by Rs 95 to Rs 1,41,450. City-wise, Mumbai and Kolkata quoted gold at Rs 1,54,310, Delhi at Rs 1,54,460, and Chennai at Rs 1,54,310.

    Key Levels to Watch

“Gold is range-bound because it is capped by a higher probability of raising interest rates, which continues to hinder momentum in the market,” said Daniel Pavilonis, senior market strategist at Stone X.

Ahmad Assiri, market strategist at Pepperstone Group Ltd, noted: “A softer reading will be a relief for gold traders, as it would support the case for holding rates steady. The greater risk lies in an upside inflation surprise, which would likely strengthen the case for a hike, creating what could be massive pressure on the precious metal.”

Internationally, gold is likely to find support at USD 4,400–USD 4,365 per troy ounce, with resistance at USD 4,474–USD 4,510. Silver support is at USD 65.80–USD 64.70, while resistance is placed at USD 68–USD 69.10 per troy ounce.

    Key Levels to Watch

Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone Group, noted that gold remains in a tug-of-war between buyers and sellers, with neither side showing enough conviction for a sustained directional move. Edward Meir of Marex added in a monthly note that gold is unlikely to fall sharply even if the central bank raises rates, emphasizing that market unease about Fed and Treasury signals matters more than the rate move itself.

On MCX, gold faces support at Rs 1,51,750 and Rs 1,50,500, with resistance at Rs 1,53,850 and Rs 1,54,700. Silver has support at Rs 2,36,600 and Rs 2,35,000, and resistance at Rs 2,41,000 and Rs 2,44,000.

Internationally, spot gold rose 0.6% to $4,262.39 per ounce, heading for its biggest weekly gain since January. US gold futures climbed 0.5% to $4,321.50. The rally was supported by weaker oil prices and expectations that the Fed may adopt a more dovish stance.

Spot silver added 1.3% to $62.27, platinum rose 0.5% to $1,737.25, while palladium slipped 0.2% to $1,368.37. In the energy market, Brent crude futures rose 1.83% to $84 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) edged up 1.67% to $78.58.

    Key Technical Levels

Analysts noted that the $4,000 level has emerged as solid support for gold. XAU/USD trades at $4,260.68 on the daily chart, holding above the 21-day simple moving average (SMA) at $4,083.25 and the 50-day SMA at $4,151.23, keeping the near-term bias bullish.

On the upside, immediate resistance is at the 100-day SMA of $4,389.72, followed by a more substantial barrier at the 200-day SMA around $4,494.54. On the downside, support lies at the 50-day SMA near $4,151.23 and then $4,083.25.

“Regardless of how NFP plays out, $4,000 has proven to be a solid support level — and I suspect bulls are waiting for dips to take advantage of a much-needed correction higher towards $4,600. NFP may provide some noise over the near term, but price action has spoken, and gold looks like it wants to rally,” said market analyst Simpson.

Investors now await the US non-farm payrolls data, which could provide further direction for gold prices in the near term.

MCX Gold Rises 0.61% to ₹1,49,401 as Softer Dollar and Strait of Hormuz Hopes Boost Sentiment

Gold prices climbed on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on August 6, buoyed by a softer U.S. dollar, lower oil prices, and growing optimism that the Strait of Hormuz may reopen soon after U.S. President Donald Trump pledged to reach an agreement with Iran.

    U.S. Gold Prices

U.S. gold prices extended gains for a fourth consecutive session, touching their highest level in seven weeks. A soft U.S. dollar and lower Treasury yields, combined with hopes of the Strait of Hormuz reopening, supported the rally. Spot gold rose 0.5% to $4,265.22 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures gained 0.5% to $4,324.60.

Spot silver fell 0.1% to $62.02, platinum climbed 1.2% to $1,755.18, and palladium advanced 0.8% to $1,374.33, marking its third straight session of gains.

    Key Levels to Watch

“The sharp rally came on building optimism that a diplomatic breakthrough in the Middle East is close to being finalised. This in turn would keep downside pressure on oil prices and reduce the need for central banks to raise rates, providing a clear tailwind for gold,” said Tony Sycamore, market analyst at IG.

Sycamore added that a sustained break above the 200-day moving average could pave the way for a stronger recovery toward the $5,000 mark.

On MCX, gold is currently trading in a broader range of ₹1,45,000 to ₹1,52,000 per 10 grams, with a narrower range of ₹1,47,000 to ₹1,50,000. Resistance is seen at ₹1,50,000; a breakout above this level could push prices toward ₹1,52,000. Internationally, COMEX gold faces immediate resistance at $4,320 per ounce. A break above this level could target $4,350.

    U.S. Gold Prices

Internationally, gold prices rose for a third consecutive session on Wednesday, aided by a softer dollar and lower oil prices, as traders looked ahead to U.S. jobs data for hints on the interest-rate outlook. Spot gold was up 1.3% at $4,127.04 per ounce, and U.S. gold futures rose 0.8% to $4,184.40. Spot silver gained 1.9% to $60.64 per ounce, platinum climbed 1.4% to $1,758.35, and palladium advanced 0.9% to $1,365.62.

    Key Levels to Watch

“Gold’s relation with oil is still intact, as oil prices have a tremendous impact on the global economy in terms of inflationary pressure. If we get a very clear roadmap to further de-escalation in tensions, gold prices could move higher,” said Kelvin Wong, senior market analyst at OANDA.

Internationally, gold has support at $4,120 and $4,089, with resistance at $4,184 and $4,222 per troy ounce. Silver has support at $59.10 and $58.40, with resistance at $61.60 and $62.80 per troy ounce.
