  • US Stocks Decline as 10-Year Treasury Yield Reaches Highest Level Since 2007

US Stocks Decline as 10-Year Treasury Yield Reaches Highest Level Since 2007

US stocks fell on Wednesday as the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield soared to its highest level since 2007, following stronger-than-expected business activity data that revived expectations of further interest rate hikes.

The S&P Global flash US Composite PMI Output Index rose to 58.4 in September from 56.0 in August, marking its highest reading since July 2021. The surge was fueled by a sharp increase in new orders, with factory hiring rising at its fastest pace since February 2021.

Treasury Yields Rise on Rate Hike Bets

The robust business activity data reinforced bets that the Federal Reserve could raise rates again, as inflation remains above the central bank’s 2% target. The 10-year Treasury yield jumped 8.7 basis points to 5.054%, its highest level since 2007. The two-year yield, sensitive to interest rate expectations, rose 8.49 basis points to 4.862%, its highest since June 2024.

Fed funds futures traders now price in a 73% probability of an October rate hike, up from 53% earlier. Federal Reserve Governor Michael Barr stated that the central bank had taken an important step to ‘recalibrate’ short-term borrowing costs and would likely need to deliver additional rate hikes to bring down inflation.

    Wall Street Ends Lower

Stocks came under pressure as Treasury yields climbed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.18%, the S&P 500 dropped 0.53%, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 1.05%. The pan-European STOXX 600 index slipped 0.27%, while an MSCI index of global stocks declined 0.51% after four consecutive sessions of gains.

Adam Button, chief currency analyst at investingLive, noted that services continued to lead the economy while manufacturing output picked up sharply, with factory hiring accelerating at its quickest pace since February 2021.

    Dollar Gains, Gold Falls

The prospect of higher US interest rates supported the dollar, which reached multi-week highs against the euro, sterling, and Canadian dollar. The euro fell 0.5% to USD 1.1389, its lowest level since July 29. The dollar rose 0.56% against the yen to 158.25. Spot gold dropped 1.55% to USD 4,287.05 an ounce.

Market participants are closely watching upcoming Fed meetings and economic data for further direction.

  • US Stocks Slip as Treasury Yields Climb: Nasdaq and S&P 500 Give Back Gains

US Stocks Slip as Treasury Yields Climb: Nasdaq and S&P 500 Give Back Gains

US equities closed lower on Friday as rising Treasury yields weighed on investor sentiment, unwinding most of the gains posted Thursday after the latest rate hike. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.1%, the broad S&P 500 index lost 0.2%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.4%.

    Bond Yields Surge

The move came as US government bond yields climbed across the curve. The two-year Treasury yield rose 1.5% to 4.75%, marking its highest level since June 2024. Meanwhile, the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield pushed above the 5.00% threshold.

The Federal Reserve’s 25-basis-point rate hike on Wednesday continued to reverberate through markets. Japan’s central bank also raised rates by 25 basis points overnight, underscoring a global shift toward tighter monetary policy.

Higher bond yields typically make equities less attractive relative to fixed-income assets and raise borrowing costs for corporations. Sectors with heavy debt loads, such as materials and utilities, felt the pressure, while financial and real estate names also struggled.

Analysts also noted that the ongoing artificial intelligence rally and hyperscalers’ heavy capital expenditure have contributed to increased bond issuance, adding further upward pressure on yields.

Triple Witching Adds to Market Turbulence

Friday was also the third Friday of September — a quarterly triple witching day when stock options, stock index futures, and stock index options all expire at the close. Such sessions often bring above-average trading volume and sharper volatility as investors adjust or roll over their positions. The final hour of trading, from 15:00 to 16:00 EST, can be especially turbulent, with triple witching days frequently recording double the typical daily volume.

    S&P 500 Tests Key Support

The S&P 500 opened sharply higher before reversing course to test the June 2 high at 7,621. According to FXStreet’s technical analysis, the index appeared to find support at the 50-day simple moving average during the morning session. A sustained break below 7,621 could open the door to Wednesday’s low near 7,508, while a move higher might face resistance around 7,800 next week or before the end of September.

In other news, Warren Buffett stepped down as Berkshire Hathaway chairman after 61 years, with his son Howard Buffett taking over the role. Greg Abel remains CEO of the conglomerate.

Market participants now turn their attention to upcoming economic indicators and corporate developments before making their next investment moves.

  • Wall Street Rises as Amazon’s Cloud Surge Offsets Apple’s Weak Outlook After Earnings

Wall Street Rises as Amazon’s Cloud Surge Offsets Apple’s Weak Outlook After Earnings

US stocks moved higher on Friday as Amazon and semiconductor shares supported a second day of gains on Wall Street. The Nasdaq led the advance, while Apple’s sharp decline limited the broader technology rebound.

The session followed several days of sharp market swings. Investors tracked technology earnings, Federal Reserve policy, higher oil prices, and tensions involving Iran. Markets also assessed whether cloud revenue could support heavy artificial intelligence spending.

Wall Street Opens Higher on Tech Strength

The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.87% at the opening bell and reached 25,340.71. The S&P 500 added 0.33% to 7,462.13. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.05% to 52,235.03. Amazon’s earnings rally provided the main support for the technology-heavy Nasdaq.

Semiconductor shares also extended Thursday’s rebound. Micron and AMD ranked among the stronger chip stocks during early trading. Microsoft had already lifted the technology sector on Thursday after reporting stronger Azure cloud growth. Its results eased some concerns about large AI infrastructure budgets.

Amazon Rallies After Faster AWS Growth

Amazon shares climbed about 13% during Friday’s early session. The company reported second-quarter revenue of $200.6 billion. Amazon Web Services sales rose 37% from one year earlier to $42.2 billion. That marked the cloud division’s fastest growth in 18 quarters.

The cloud result supported Amazon’s spending plans. Amazon raised its projected 2026 capital expenditure to $220 billion from $200 billion. The company plans to direct much of that money toward data centres, chips, robotics, and other technology. Amazon also reported demand that exceeded its available computing capacity.

Apple Drops After Weak Sales Forecast

Apple shares fell almost 9% despite beating quarterly profit and revenue forecasts. Fiscal third-quarter revenue increased 16% to $109.42 billion. Net income reached $29.79 billion, while earnings rose to $2.02 per share. Strong iPhone and Mac sales supported the quarter.

However, Apple forecast revenue growth of 9% to 11% for the current quarter. Analysts had expected growth of about 12%. Apple cited supply limits tied to advanced chips and memory components. Services revenue rose 12% to $30.7 billion but missed the $31.4 billion analyst estimate.

Labor Costs Add to Rate Questions

Meanwhile, the Employment Cost Index rose 0.9% during the second quarter. Wages and salaries increased 0.9%, while benefit costs rose 1%. Compensation costs increased 3.4% during the 12 months ending in June.

The quarterly increase came in slightly above the 0.8% market estimate. Treasury yields moved higher after the report as traders reviewed the outlook for interest rates. The data followed another week of debate over inflation, labor costs, oil prices, and future Federal Reserve decisions.

Equity Funds Return to US Stocks

Investors added a net $11.83 billion to US equity funds during the week ending July 29. The inflow ended two straight weeks of withdrawals. Large-cap funds attracted $11.57 billion, their strongest weekly net purchase since June 24.

Technology funds received $4.9 billion, while financial funds added $1.96 billion. Mid-cap funds recorded $2.29 billion in outflows. Small-cap funds lost $196 million. UBS investment chief Mark Haefele said, “We remain constructive on the AI growth story.”

    Texas Stock Exchange Completes Rollout

The Texas Stock Exchange expanded trading to all National Market System securities on Friday. The Dallas-based exchange started live trading in a small group of securities on July 10. It then added thousands of symbols through a staged rollout during July.

TXSE now competes for trading activity with established Wall Street venues, including Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange. The exchange operates premarket, regular, and post-market sessions. It plans to start exchange-traded product listings in September and corporate listings in October.

  • SpaceX Leads MEXC RealStocks’ Debut Month with Nearly 30% of Trading Volume

SpaceX Leads MEXC RealStocks’ Debut Month with Nearly 30% of Trading Volume

MEXC, a leading zero-fee digital asset trading platform, has released the first-month trading insights for its newly launched RealStocks product. The feature allows eligible users to purchase real US stocks and ETFs through a licensed securities broker partner. Launched on June 1, 2026, RealStocks quickly showed distinct trading patterns, with one event-driven name—SpaceX (ticker: SPCX)—capturing massive consensus and AI-related interest spreading beyond the most obvious tickers.

According to the data, SPCX accounted for 29.70% of June’s total trading volume and 29.06% of trading users, finishing far ahead of every other asset. The simultaneous rise in both metrics indicates that SpaceX attracted not just heavy volume from a narrow group of aggressive traders, but also broad participation from a wide user base placing modest orders—making it the firmest consensus holding of RealStocks’ opening month.

Seven AI-related assets—AAOI, MU, NVDA, MRVL, DRAM, AVGO, and SNDK—together accounted for 23.67% of total trading volume. These names span GPU compute, memory and storage, data center networking, and optical communications, reflecting how investor interest traveled well beyond the single best-known compute name and followed data center demand into its supply chain—a pattern that echoes the wider AI capital rotation seen across markets in June.

Three distinct trading structures emerged over the month:

    • Well-known large caps: AAPL, MSFT, INTC, and GOOGL drew broad participation and widened overall user coverage.
    • Core hot assets: SPCX, NVDA, MU, TSLA, SNDK, and MRVL combined wide participation with heavy activity.
    • Narrower industry-chain names: AAOI, DRAM, STRC, and AVGO reached the top 10 by volume without reaching the top 10 by users, meaning fewer traders each contributed more. MRVL exemplifies this split, drawing 2.12% of trading users but 3.15% of volume.

Similar themes surfaced on both RealStocks and MEXC’s futures products: SPCX, MU, NVDA, SNDK, and MRVL ranked in the top 10 by volume for both. However, concentration diverged sharply. RealStocks’ top 10 assets made up 57.71% of volume versus roughly 84.94% for futures, leaving 42.29% of RealStocks volume spread across everything outside the leaderboard. AAOI, DRAM, TSLA, and AVGO placed high on RealStocks but ranked lower on futures, and STRC has no corresponding futures product.

“Futures follow the news cycle. RealStocks showed conviction as a portfolio product,” said Vugar Usi, CEO of MEXC. “More than 40% of first-month volume sat outside the top ten names. That is portfolio building, not headline trading. Our users finally got real access to this market and they used it like investors.”

RealStocks supports USDT funding, charges 0 trading fees, and delivers the ownership rights attached to real shares—including eligible dividend distributions. The product is supported by Atomic Vaults Securities (AVS), a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, providing access to real U.S. equities through regulated securities infrastructure. Over 120,000 users signed up during the first month; more than half of those new accounts went on to make a first deposit. As of July 27, 2026, RealStocks had settled dividends for 154 stocks and ETFs.

Alongside RealStocks, MEXC offers more than 260 stock and index futures products, tokenized US equities, and a Pre-IPO Launchpad—covering derivatives, on-chain exposure, and early-stage opportunities within a single account.
