Thousands of Xbox users across multiple regions experienced service disruptions on Monday when Xbox Live went down, triggering the error code 0x87e107df. The issue prevented players from launching digital games, accessing Xbox Game Pass titles, and making purchases, despite being connected to Xbox Live. Some users also reported problems altering their Home Xbox settings.
The outage stems from server-side problems at Microsoft. The error occurs when the system cannot verify a player’s digital game license, blocking access to installed digital content. Microsoft acknowledged the issue in a blog post, recommending users check the Xbox status page and restart their consoles as initial troubleshooting steps.
Unfortunately, most players cannot resolve the error on their own. Since the root cause lies with Xbox servers, restarting consoles or adjusting internet settings may not provide a permanent fix. The best course of action is to wait for Microsoft to restore server functionality, after which license verification should proceed normally, allowing digital games to launch again.
Players concerned about saved data can rest assured: game progress is typically stored locally or in the cloud linked to their Xbox account. Achievements that fail to sync during the outage should update once servers are back online. While online matches disrupted by the error may lose progress, single-player saves and cloud backups are expected to remain intact.
As the situation develops, users are advised to avoid unnecessary console settings changes and rely on official updates from Microsoft.
