  • Indian Stock Market Poised for Strong Open as Wall Street Rally Boosts Global Sentiment

Indian Stock Market Poised for Strong Open as Wall Street Rally Boosts Global Sentiment

Strong global shifts are expected to give Dalal Street a positive start on Wednesday, August 5. The possible US-Iran agreement is bringing back investor confidence, along with lower crude oil prices. The easing of geopolitical tension declined the price of crude oil to approximately $74 per barrel from previously $75 per barrel. This positive sentiment is reflected in 24,700 in early trade of GIFT Nifty.

About the improved investor sentiments, Ponmudi R, CEO at Enrich Money, said, “While the recent decline in crude oil prices reflects growing optimism over a potential normalization of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, investors are likely to remain cautious until there is greater clarity on the evolving geopolitical situation.”

He further added, “Attention is firmly focused on the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decision due this morning.” Notably, RBI’s decision arrived on Wednesday morning, following a three-day meeting, and the central bank kept the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% to control instability in the market.

This morning Asian equities are trading firmly higher, tracking Wall Street’s second consecutive session of record gains. South Korea’s Kospi deserves a special mention with gains of more than 4%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 progressed 3.15% in the same timeframe. Similarly, the small-cap Kosdaq is up 2.4%, and the broader Topix has gained 1.4%.

Traders are not lowering their guard, despite the positive start. The reported US-Iran deal is not yet finalized, and any change in the situation could quickly impact global markets. Investors will also eye crude oil prices, foreign investment flows and upcoming economic data for direction.

However, the mood is still upbeat. Lower oil prices, a strong rally on Wall Street and positive cues from GIFT Nifty have created a better environment for Indian stocks. Dalal Street may continue to hold its positive momentum in the coming sessions if global conditions stay stable.

  • Indian Stock Market Opens Mixed: Nifty Dips 70 Points, Sensex Gains 395 Points

Indian Stock Market Opens Mixed: Nifty Dips 70 Points, Sensex Gains 395 Points

The Indian stock markets opened on a mixed note on Tuesday, following a late sharp rise in the previous session triggered by the launch of the new Closing Auction Session (CAS) framework. The Nifty 50 index opened 70.4 points or 0.28% lower at 24,703.90, while the Bank Nifty started 179 points below the previous close of 58,068.95. In contrast, the Sensex opened higher by approximately 395 points, reaching 79,132.97.

The Indian rupee opened flat at Rs. 95.36 per dollar against Monday’s close of Rs. 95.34. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained net buyers in Indian equities on August 3, purchasing shares worth Rs. 922.26 crore. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also extended their buying activity, investing Rs. 1,571.18 crore during the same period.

The broader market remained firm, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices each gaining 1.2%.

    Sensex Outlook

Technically, the Sensex continues to maintain a positive structure, with the 77,800–77,600 range acting as the immediate support zone. According to Sachin Gupta, VP of Technical Research at Choice Equity Broking, “As long as it holds above this range, the overall trend is expected to remain bullish. On the upside, 78,300–78,500 remains the immediate resistance zone, and a sustained breakout above these levels could trigger the next leg of the rally towards 78,800–79,000.”

    Nifty 50 Outlook

The Nifty 50 has strengthened its technical structure after breaking out of a three-month consolidation range. The index formed a strong bullish candle on the daily chart while closing above the upper boundary of its recent consolidation range. Analysts believe the breakout above the triangular consolidation pattern suggests the index could extend its rally towards the 25,000–25,200 zone over the coming sessions. Bajaj Broking Research stated, “We believe bias remains positive and dips, if any, in the coming sessions should be used as a buying opportunity. On the downside, immediate support is placed at 24,500–24,400 levels, while key short-term support is placed at the 24,200 levels, being the confluence of the key retracement of the current up move and 20-day EMA.”

    Bank Nifty Outlook

Bank Nifty also pushed higher, extending its upward momentum and forming a strong bullish candle on the daily chart, closing above the psychologically important 58,000 level. Analysts noted that if there is a decisive breakout over the upper end of the 58,500–58,700 band, it may spark fresh buying interest and open the door for a move toward 59,300 and then 60,000. However, if the index cannot hold above 58,700, then Bank Nifty may keep consolidating inside the 57,000–58,700 area until a clearer breakout happens. On the downside, the 56,500–56,000 zone remains a crucial support area, reinforced by the confluence of the lower band of the six-week trading range, an ascending trendline, and the 52-week EMA, making it a strong demand zone. As long as the index holds above this support cluster, the broader outlook is expected to remain constructive.

  • Indian Stock Market Timings Updated: F&O Trading Now Ends at 3:40 PM

Indian Stock Market Timings Updated: F&O Trading Now Ends at 3:40 PM

The Indian stock market saw a significant change in trading timings on August 3, as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) introduced new rules for Futures & Options (F&O) trading. Under the updated schedule, F&O trading now concludes at 3:40 PM instead of the previous 3:30 PM.

The exchanges have also launched a Closing Auction Session for stocks with F&O contracts. This new session is designed to improve price discovery by setting more accurate closing prices and giving traders additional time to manage their positions.

    New Trading Schedule Breakdown

    • Regular trading for F&O stocks: Ends at 3:15 PM
    • Closing Auction Session: Runs from 3:15 PM to 3:35 PM
    • F&O trading extension: Continues until 3:40 PM, providing traders five extra minutes after the auction ends

Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath commented on the change via X, noting, “Things get a little more complicated from Monday, August 3.”

How the Closing Auction Session Works

The Closing Auction Session will alter how exchanges determine closing prices. During this period, the exchanges collect buy and sell orders from traders. The price at which the highest number of orders match becomes the official closing price. The process begins after regular trading ends at 3:15 PM, starting with a reference price calculation before accepting orders, followed by order matching to determine the final closing price.

    What Remains Unchanged

    • Stocks without F&O contracts: Continue trading until 3:30 PM
    • Trade modification window: Remains open until 4:15 PM

The new timings mean different market segments will now have varying closing times. Traders must adapt to these changes when planning trades and hedging positions. The system is expected to improve price discovery near market close and reduce sudden price movements during the final trading period.

  • Indian Stock Market Opens Higher: Nifty 50 Gains 0.18%, Sensex Rises 70 Points

Indian Stock Market Opens Higher: Nifty 50 Gains 0.18%, Sensex Rises 70 Points

Indian equity markets opened on a positive note Wednesday, buoyed by favorable global cues. The Nifty 50 index climbed 44.3 points, or 0.18%, to open at 24,361.45, while the Bank Nifty advanced 78.4 points, or 0.14%, to start at 57,225.90. The Sensex opened at 77,998.66, approximately 70 points higher than its previous close.

    Broader Market Performance

Midcap and smallcap indices underperformed the benchmarks, with the Midcap index falling 0.4% and the Smallcap index dropping 0.6%. The Indian rupee opened stronger by 29 paise at Rs. 95.39 per dollar on Friday, compared to the previous close of Rs. 95.68.

    Foreign and Domestic Institutional Activity

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers of shares worth Rs. 3,624 crore on July 30, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers of shares worth Rs. 1,864 crore. FIIs have maintained net buying over the last three sessions.

    Sensex Technical Outlook

Technically, the Sensex traded comfortably above its 20-day simple moving average (SMA), a largely positive signal. A bullish candle on daily charts and an uptrend continuation pattern on intraday charts suggest further upside potential.

Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Equity Research at Kotak Securities, noted: “For trend-following traders, now 77,500 would act as a key support zone. Above this, the uptrend wave is likely to continue. On the higher side, the rally could extend till 78,300-78,500. On the flip side, below 77,500, the uptrend would become vulnerable. Below this, traders may prefer to exit their long positions.”

    Nifty 50 Outlook

The Nifty 50 continues to display a constructive technical setup, having closed above last week’s high and maintaining a pattern of higher highs and higher lows on the daily chart.

Bajaj Broking commented: “Going ahead, bias remains positive as the index continues to form higher highs and higher lows in daily charts, and we expect the index to maintain positive bias and head towards 24,370 and 24,480 in the coming sessions. Wednesday’s gap area of (24,041-24,136) is likely to act as immediate support.”

The benchmark index is expected to gradually move toward the crucial resistance zone of 24,500-24,600, which aligns with the current month’s high and the peak recorded in April 2026. On the downside, the brokerage sees immediate support in the 23,800-24,000 zone, where the 20-day and 50-day exponential moving averages (EMAs) converge.

    Bank Nifty Outlook

Bank Nifty continued to consolidate around the 57,000 mark after forming its second consecutive high-wave candle, indicating stock-specific movement within a broader sideways trend.

A decisive breakout above Wednesday’s high and the 57,500 mark could trigger fresh buying momentum and pave the way for a rally toward 58,000. However, failure to surpass 57,500 levels is likely to keep the index range-bound between 56,500-57,500. On the downside, the 56,500-56,000 zone remains a crucial support area, reinforced by the lower band of the six-week trading range, an ascending trendline, and the 52-week EMA.

Bajaj Broking Research added: “As long as the index holds above this support cluster, the broader outlook is expected to remain constructive.”

  • Indian Stock Market Ends Mixed: Sensex Rises 274 Points, Nifty Holds Above 24,300, Bank Nifty Slips

Indian Stock Market Ends Mixed: Sensex Rises 274 Points, Nifty Holds Above 24,300, Bank Nifty Slips

The Indian stock market ended on a mixed note on Thursday, following a positive session the previous day. Despite weak global cues, the benchmark indices showed resilience, with the Sensex rising 273.55 points (0.35%) to close at 77,928.15, and the Nifty 50 gaining 0.27% to finish above the 24,300 mark at 24,317.15. However, the Bank Nifty declined by 58.40 points (0.10%) to settle at 57,147.50, while the India VIX rose by 1.23%.

Market sentiment was influenced by the US Federal Reserve’s decision to hold interest rates at 3.50%-3.75%, which led to cautious trading. Additionally, rising oil prices—driven by US airstrikes against Iran and the ongoing Middle East tensions—added to investor uncertainty. Brent crude futures gained 1.5% to $92.10 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate futures advanced 0.9% to $85.23 per barrel.

    Top Gainers and Losers

Selective buying was observed in automobile, mining, and manufacturing stocks. Mahindra & Mahindra emerged as the top gainer, rising 2.26%, followed by Maruti Suzuki, Coal India, Eicher Motors, and TVS Motor. On the downside, Adani Ports led the losses, falling 3.38%, while HDFC Life, Shriram Finance, Jio Financial Services, and SBI Life Insurance also traded lower as investors booked profits in financial and insurance stocks.

    Key Market Drivers

The benchmarks rose on buying in select heavyweights, but mid- and small-cap segments witnessed profit booking after the Fed’s rate decision. Expectations are growing that the central bank may raise rates in September due to inflation risks from the Middle East conflict. Three out of 12 Fed policymakers voted in favor of a rate hike on July 29. The rupee closed at 95.68 per US dollar, little changed from the previous session’s 95.6475.

Overall, the Indian stock market ended on a mixed note, with gains in auto and mining stocks supporting the indices, while persistent global uncertainties and geopolitical tensions kept investor sentiment cautious.

  • Sensex Surges Over 860 Points, Nifty Nears 24,250 as Indian Markets Rally Ahead of Fed Decision; Crude Oil Prices Climb

Sensex Surges Over 860 Points, Nifty Nears 24,250 as Indian Markets Rally Ahead of Fed Decision; Crude Oil Prices Climb

Indian benchmark indices extended their winning streak on Wednesday, rallying ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision. The Sensex soared 866.97 points, or 1.12%, to close at 77,632.89, while the Nifty gained 1.06% to finish just shy of the 24,250 mark at 24,241. The Bank Nifty also rose 450.30 points, or 0.79%, and the India VIX eased by 4.28%, indicating reduced market volatility.

Oil Prices Rise on Middle East Tensions

Crude oil prices climbed as renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East reignited concerns over global supply disruptions. Lower US crude inventories and expectations regarding OPEC+ production policy also supported the upward move. Brent crude futures jumped 3.78% to $87.42 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) advanced 3.68% to $82.18 per barrel.

    Top Gainers and Losers

Market sentiment remained stock-specific, with investors favoring financials, IT, metals, and FMCG counters. Jio Financial Services led the gainers with a nearly 5% rise, followed by strong buying in Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, Hindalco Industries, and Tata Steel, buoyed by optimism around earnings, consumption demand, and improving sector outlooks.

On the downside, Adani Ports emerged as the top loser amid profit booking, while Mahindra & Mahindra also traded lower. Selling pressure was relatively limited, with Power Grid Corporation, Eicher Motors, and Bajaj Auto witnessing marginal declines as investors remained cautious ahead of key domestic and global market triggers.

    Fed Meeting in Focus

The US Federal Reserve kicked off its two-day monetary policy meeting on Tuesday, July 28. The rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which convenes eight times a year, is scheduled to announce its interest rate decision on Wednesday, July 29. The FOMC will assess key economic data, including inflation, economic growth, and labor market conditions, before deciding on the federal funds rate.

This upcoming meeting will also be Kevin Warsh’s second Federal Reserve policy meeting, with the US central bank widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged. During its previous policy meeting, the Fed maintained the benchmark interest rate within the 3.5%–3.75% target range.

  • Indian Stock Market Opens Lower: Nifty 50 Dips 25 Points, Sensex Steady Near 76,830

Indian Stock Market Opens Lower: Nifty 50 Dips 25 Points, Sensex Steady Near 76,830

On Tuesday, the Indian stock markets opened on a muted note amid mixed global cues. The Nifty 50 opened at 23,971.25, about 25 points lower than its previous close of 23,995.95. The Bank Nifty started at 56,883.55, down 203.65 points, while the Sensex opened flat at 76,831.75.

Broader indices ended higher, with the Nifty Midcap 100 rising 1% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 gaining 1.3%. The Indian rupee opened higher by 14 paise at ₹95.75 per dollar compared to the previous close of ₹95.89.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) net sold shares worth ₹1,688 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net bought shares worth ₹2,329 crore on July 27.

    Sensex Outlook

Technically, the Sensex held positive momentum and formed a bullish candle on the daily chart, which is largely positive. “As long as the market is trading above 76,500, the pullback formation is likely to continue. On the higher side, it could retest the 77,000-77,300 level. On the flip side, below 76,500, the selling pressure is likely to accelerate. If it falls below this level, the market could slip to 76,200-76,000,” said Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Equity Research at Kotak Securities.

    Nifty 50 Outlook

The Nifty 50 formed a bullish candle on the daily chart after snapping its five-session losing streak. The formation of a bullish gap between 23,823 and 23,891 indicates renewed buying interest. As long as the index holds above Monday’s gap area of 23,823-23,891, the ongoing pullback is likely to remain intact.

“Going ahead, formation of higher high and higher low on a sustained basis and holding above 24,000 levels will signal a pullback towards 24,300-24,350 levels in the coming sessions. On the downside, a move below Monday’s gap area (23,823-23,891) will signal weakness and open downside towards the key support area of 23,500-23,600 being the confluence of the trendline support joining lows of April and June 2026, bullish gap area of 15th June 2026 and 61.8% retracement of the recent up move from 23,070-24,530,” said Bajaj Broking Research.

    Bank Nifty Outlook

Bank Nifty also ended Monday’s session on a positive note, forming a doji candle and closing above its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA). The banking index continues to consolidate within the 56,500-58,700 range. The immediate hurdle for Bank Nifty is placed at 57,500, while the 58,500-58,700 zone is expected to act as a strong resistance in the coming weeks. A sustained move above these levels could strengthen bullish momentum.

On the downside, 56,500-56,000 remains a crucial support zone as it coincides with the lower end of the six-week consolidation range, a rising trendline and the 52-week EMA. Bajaj Broking noted that only a decisive breach below this support could accelerate the decline toward the 55,000 level.

  • Sensex Surges 776 Points, Nifty Nears 24,000 as Falling Oil Prices Boost Indian Markets

Sensex Surges 776 Points, Nifty Nears 24,000 as Falling Oil Prices Boost Indian Markets

Indian benchmark indices rebounded sharply on Monday, snapping a five-day losing streak, as easing crude oil prices and reduced geopolitical tensions lifted investor sentiment. The Sensex rallied 776.01 points, or 1.02%, to close at 76,835.78, while the Nifty ended just shy of the 24,000 mark at 23,995.95, gaining 0.96%. The Bank Nifty also advanced 393.70 points, or 0.69%, and the India VIX eased 8%, signaling a decline in market volatility.

Broader markets outperformed, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index climbing 1.11% and the Smallcap 100 index jumping 1.31%. A sharp appreciation in the Indian rupee further boosted sentiment, as the currency surged 63 paise to settle at Rs. 95.90 per US dollar.

Oil Prices Plunge, Easing Inflation Concerns

The primary driver of today’s rally was a steep decline in global oil prices. Brent crude futures fell 7.93% to $89.11 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped 7.05% to $83.01 per barrel. The drop in oil prices reduced inflation worries and improved the outlook for corporate margins, particularly for consumer and financial stocks.

Top Gainers: Consumer and Financial Stocks Lead

Investor sentiment remained selective, with buying interest concentrated in consumer-facing and financial stocks. Eternal emerged as the top gainer after a strong rally, while IndiGo, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, and Max Health also advanced on optimism surrounding earnings resilience and sector-specific growth prospects.

Top Losers: Energy Stocks Under Pressure

On the other hand, energy stocks came under pressure, with ONGC leading the losses as oil prices fell over 7% below $90. HDFC Life traded lower, while banking heavyweights HDFC Bank and Union Bank also witnessed mild selling.

    Middle East Calm Boosts Sentiment

Market sentiment improved after a temporary pause in hostilities between the United States and Iran appeared to hold. The US military halted two weeks of strikes on Friday as diplomats sought to give peace talks ‘some space.’ Iran has also refrained from military operations against regional targets in recent days and said it would reciprocate following a China-led effort to revive stalled diplomatic talks in Pakistan. The prospect of reduced geopolitical tensions, alongside lower oil prices and gains across Asian markets, helped lift Indian equities.

    Levels to Watch

Analysts see immediate support around the 23,700 level, while a break below 23,650 could trigger further downside. A decisive close above 24,000–24,130 is needed to improve the near-term outlook. Immediate resistance is 24,000; a sustained break above this could trigger a rally toward 24,200 in the near term.

  • Indian Markets Extend Losing Streak for Fifth Day as Crude Oil Fears Bite

Indian Markets Extend Losing Streak for Fifth Day as Crude Oil Fears Bite

Indian equity benchmarks ended Friday’s session under heavy selling pressure, capping their fifth consecutive day of losses. Investors reacted to surging crude oil prices, escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, weak corporate earnings, and continued foreign fund outflows. The bearish trend was visible across sectors, with banking, auto, and metal stocks leading the decline. The sell-off also pushed the benchmark indices towards their worst weekly performance in nearly four months.

    Overall Market Performance

At 2:50 PM, the Sensex was down 272.00 points, or 0.36%, at 76,119.39, while the Nifty fell 81.70 points, or 0.34%, to 23,787.90. Market breadth remained negative, with 1,792 shares advancing against 1,944 declines. Broader markets also remained under pressure, with the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices declining as risk aversion intensified.

The weakness was largely driven by Brent crude climbing above $100 per barrel, raising concerns over inflation, India’s import bill, and corporate profitability. Investors also remained cautious following disappointing quarterly earnings from several large-cap companies.

    Top Gainers and Losers

While some stocks managed to post gains, the majority of sectors faced significant losses. The detailed list of top gainers and losers is available in the original report.

    Market Trends

Friday’s decline was indicative of a risk-off scenario. The equity markets fell back as uncertainty rose following new events taking place in the Middle East. Increased oil prices were a major source of concern for Indian markets as they can potentially cause inflation, increase the trade deficit, and reduce the bottom line for businesses.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued to reduce their positions, while the weakening Indian rupee became an additional factor causing uncertainty. Poor performance by large corporations dampened investor confidence.

  • Indian Stock Market Ends Lower: Sensex, Nifty Fall as Banking and IT Stocks Weigh

Indian Stock Market Ends Lower: Sensex, Nifty Fall as Banking and IT Stocks Weigh

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed lower on Thursday, July 23, 2026, extending their losing streak to a fourth consecutive day. Rising crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions in West Asia, and sustained selling pressure in banking, pharmaceutical, and IT stocks dampened investor sentiment, offsetting gains in select auto and consumer sectors.

The BSE Sensex fell below the 76,600 mark during the session, while the NSE Nifty 50 remained weak under the psychologically important 24,000 level. At 14:55 IST, the Sensex was down 517.34 points or 0.67% at 76,237.71, and the Nifty was down 167.35 points or 0.70% at 23,828.90. About 1,440 shares advanced, 2,361 declined, and 148 remained unchanged.

    Market Drivers

Rising crude oil prices, fueled by tensions between the US, Iran, and the Red Sea region, remained the primary factor influencing investor mood. Concerns over inflation, higher import costs, and compressed corporate profitability weighed on sentiment.

    Top Gainers

Investor interest was largely confined to automobile and industrial stocks, where companies with strong income prospects and robust domestic demand outperformed. Auto shares led the market despite the overall negative tone.

    Top Losers

Pharmaceutical shares came under pressure after Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories reported weak quarterly results. Banks and financial services firms also faced selling. Defensive stocks like Nestlé India were among the major laggards.

    Market Trends

Thursday’s session reinforced the cautious mood across Dalal Street. Brent crude oil prices near $96–$97 per barrel raised concerns about rising energy costs potentially fueling inflation, widening India’s current account deficit, and squeezing corporate margins. Despite the negative macro backdrop, market participants continued to focus on the earnings season, with some blue-chip results disappointing.

    What Investors Can Take Away

The market remains influenced by macroeconomic events rather than company-specific news. Heightened geopolitical tensions and rising oil prices have prompted a risk-off stance, leading to selective buying rather than broad participation. The resilience of automobile and industrial stocks, however, indicates that investors are still willing to back sectors with strong domestic fundamentals. In the coming days, corporate results, oil price movements, and global geopolitical developments will drive market direction.

Note: Percentage gains for some stocks were not officially disclosed in end-of-day summaries, but they featured among the session’s strongest performers.
