  • Kenya’s DCI Warns Public About Forex and Crypto Scams Hidden Behind Flashy Social Media Lifestyles

Kenya’s DCI Warns Public About Forex and Crypto Scams Hidden Behind Flashy Social Media Lifestyles

Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a public warning about online investment scams that use luxury lifestyles and fabricated trading profits to lure victims. The agency specifically cautioned against taking social media displays of wealth as evidence of successful investing.

Social Media Glamour vs. Real Returns

On Monday, September 28, the DCI highlighted a group it referred to as ‘Masharp Boys/Girls,’ whose accounts feature images of cash, expensive cars, drinks, and overseas trips alongside offers related to forex trading, cryptocurrency, arbitrage, and betting. Some of these accounts promote trading platforms or share signals via Telegram. The DCI urged Kenyans to question the link between those glamorous images and the advertised returns.

The warning specifically addressed screenshots that appear to show large trading profits. According to the DCI, a dashboard may display a number, but viewers cannot verify from an image alone whether the trades actually occurred or whether the account holder withdrew the money. The agency described these as ‘phantom profits.’ Its statement did not name any specific individual or claim that everyone posting about trading is committing fraud.

The DCI noted that some promoters may stage photographs or use hired vehicles to create a false impression of success. These displays help build trust before asking followers to invest in a scheme. The agency’s concern is the use of apparent wealth to support an investment pitch, not the possession of luxury goods itself.

    Fake Platforms and Phishing Risks

The DCI also warned about fake trading platforms, fraudulent cryptocurrency wallets, and phishing links. These tools can make an offer look legitimate while giving criminals access to deposits or personal data. The agency cited identity fraud, deepfakes, and other deceptive methods as risks associated with online financial scams.

A person responding to an online offer may be asked to register, send funds, or provide account details before any claimed return can be verified. The DCI advised Kenyans to be cautious when promoters promise substantial profits with little effort or risk. It also warned that those running fraudulent schemes could face legal consequences.

The DCI’s message covers several types of offers, including forex and crypto pitches. It does not state that trading in those markets is inherently a scam. The concern is whether a promoter uses false records, misleading claims, or a fake platform to obtain money from the public.

    Regulator Weighs In

The DCI’s warning follows a separate September statement from Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority (CMA). The regulator cautioned the public about entities offering investment services without the required license or approval. It urged people to avoid operators that disguise fraudulent activity as an investment opportunity.

The CMA said members of the public could report suspected schemes to their nearest DCI office. Its notice provides a practical step for anyone considering an offer: check whether the provider has the required approval before sending money. A social media following, a trading screenshot, or a display of expensive purchases does not serve that purpose.

The DCI asked Kenyans to remain alert when online claims of easy wealth lead to requests for funds or personal details. Its warning encourages the public to independently verify the advertised business and its claimed returns.

  • Bitcoin Drops to $83,000 as Oil Price Rally Triggers Widespread Crypto Selloff

Bitcoin Drops to $83,000 as Oil Price Rally Triggers Widespread Crypto Selloff

Bitcoin fell to $83,000 on Monday as a surge in oil prices above $100 per barrel triggered losses across both cryptocurrency and traditional financial markets. The leading cryptocurrency dropped 1.7% since midnight UTC and 2.1% over the past 24 hours, while altcoins suffered even deeper declines.

    Oil Rally Pressures Risk Assets

The market downturn followed a continued rise in crude oil prices, with Brent crude returning above $100 to trade at $100.83, a 3.2% gain during the session. The move came after President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest terms for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which included demands for access to frozen funds, relief from oil sanctions, and an end to the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Traditional markets also weakened. Gold fell 3.3% to $4,144, silver dropped 5.1% to $61.00, while S&P 500 futures lost 0.44% and NASDAQ 100 futures declined 0.95%. The US dollar index edged up 0.06% to 101.09, indicating broad selling pressure across multiple asset classes rather than an isolated crypto decline.

    Altcoins Hit Harder

The CoinDesk 100 index fell 2.6% to 1,874.56, with 91 of its 100 constituents trading lower. Total crypto trading volume surged 70% to $172 billion over 24 hours, yet market-wide futures open interest dropped 3% to $150 billion, suggesting traders closed positions even as activity accelerated.

Altcoins recorded sharper losses. QNT dropped 16% since midnight after a 39% gain during Friday’s session. GRT fell 12%, and ONDO also declined 12%. The DeFi Select Index lost 6.4% during the session and 7.3% over 24 hours, while the CoinDesk Computing Index fell 3.2% and 5.0% over the same period.

Bitcoin Futures Show Traders Reducing Leverage

Bitcoin futures open interest declined to 650,000 BTC, its lowest level since March. Funding rates turned negative across major exchanges, indicating that remaining leveraged positions leaned bearish. As of September 22, leveraged funds increased their net Bitcoin futures short position by 1,599 contracts to a total of 7,953 contracts, while asset managers added 411 contracts to raise their net long position to 3,171 contracts.

The broader derivatives market later showed leverage declining further. The 24-hour taker long-short split stood at 46.9% against 53.1% as of 09:50 UTC, giving aggressive sellers a modest advantage. Ether saw a similar decline in leveraged exposure, with ETH futures open interest falling to 12.85 million ETH from 13.95 million on July 1.

XRP and HBAR Break from Broader Trend

XRP futures open interest moved differently, reaching a four-week high of 2.46 billion XRP early in the session before easing to 2.37 billion. Whale positioning varied: Binance whales remained bullish on Bitcoin, though weaker than Friday, turned bearish on Ether, and remained bullish on Solana. XRP positioning returned to bearish territory but less so than Friday.

HBAR recorded an even stronger increase in derivatives activity, with open interest surging to a record 2.30 billion HBAR while its spot price climbed 48% over 24 hours. However, its 24-hour open-interest-adjusted cumulative volume delta remained negative, and annualized funding stayed only slightly above zero, indicating aggressive buying did not dominate.

    Options Market Shows Mixed Sentiment

On Deribit, the $84,000 Bitcoin put expiring September 30 became the most traded Bitcoin options contract over 24 hours, while the $2,850 Ether call expiring October 20 led ETH options activity. Bitcoin implied volatility increased slightly as Volmex’s BVIV rose to 37.4% after rebounding from below 36% last week. Wall Street’s VIX rose to 16 on Friday from below 14, reflecting broader market uncertainty.

Separately, Pluang data showed only nine of 50 major cryptocurrencies rising as 40 declined. Harmony led the gainers with a 30.54% rise, while GRT gained 17.15% and BAL advanced 11.14%.

Bitcoin’s decline to $83,000 came as oil returned above $100 and selling spread across cryptocurrencies and traditional assets. Futures data showed lower leverage, negative funding, and bearish taker activity, while XRP and HBAR recorded stronger open interest. Options activity showed demand for both downside protection and selective upside exposure.

  • XRP Surges Over 60% as Whales Accumulate 470M Tokens and Analysts Eye $1.60 Breakout

XRP Surges Over 60% as Whales Accumulate 470M Tokens and Analysts Eye $1.60 Breakout

XRP has posted a gain of more than 60% over the past month, driven by significant whale accumulation, increased activity on the XRP Ledger, and bullish technical indicators. The token is currently trading near $1.50 after a slight dip of over 2% attributed to profit-taking. Market participants are closely watching the $1.60 level, which analysts see as the next critical resistance that could pave the way toward $2.

Veteran trader Peter Brandt recently shared a chart showing a long-term target of $5.40 for XRP, representing a potential upside of about 260% from current prices. Brandt did not provide a specific timeline for this projection but emphasized that posting a chart does not constitute a trade recommendation. His analysis relies on historical chart patterns and market cycles.

    Analyst Targets and Institutional Outlook

Standard Chartered has maintained an even more ambitious long-term forecast, reiterating a $28 price target for XRP by 2030. However, the bank revised its 2026 forecast downward from $8 to $2.80. Institutional interest continues to grow around XRP Ledger applications such as payments, liquidity, tokenization, stablecoins, and decentralized finance.

Near-term technical analysts, including Ali Martinez, have identified $2 as a possible next target if XRP breaks above $1.60. Martinez also pointed to an inverse head-and-shoulders formation on the daily chart, which places a clear technical threshold between XRP’s current price and the next projected level.

    Whale Activity Accelerates

Large XRP holders have been accumulating aggressively during the rally. On-chain data shows that wallets holding between 1 million and 10 million XRP added more than 470 million tokens within five days, worth approximately $724 million. Their combined holdings rose from nearly 12.37 billion to 12.80 billion XRP.

Earlier in the rally, about 1.54 billion XRP moved into large wallets over a 96-hour period, signaling strong conviction among whales. This accumulation comes as traders watch whether XRP can clear the $1.60 resistance level.

XRP Ledger Activity and Stablecoin Growth

Account activity on the XRP Ledger has also increased. New accounts rose 34% to about 3,200 last week, while active accounts stood at 17,800. While wallet accumulation and account growth indicate broader participation, they measure different aspects of network health.

Decentralized exchanges on XRPL processed about $4.38 million in trading volume over a recent 24-hour period, with the network recording 40,326 active addresses. Application fees totaled $130,926, far exceeding the base-layer chain revenue of $49,494.

Stablecoin capitalization on the XRP Ledger has reached nearly $1.191 billion, with RLUSD identified as the native stablecoin. In comparison, total value locked in XRPL DeFi protocols is about $44.63 million, and real-world assets under management stand at $20.88 million. The stablecoin market is now more than 26 times larger than DeFi TVL, highlighting a growing use case for the ledger.

The recent profit-taking was partly linked to geopolitical developments, including US President Donald Trump’s rejection of Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump expects talks with Iran to resume this week, adding an element of uncertainty to broader markets.

As XRP’s monthly rally surpasses 60%, traders remain focused on the $1.60 level for the next directional move, while longer-term forecasts range from Brandt’s $5.40 target to Standard Chartered’s $28 projection for 2030.

  • IMX Token Surges 9.25% as Bulls Eye Key Resistance at $0.1855

IMX Token Surges 9.25% as Bulls Eye Key Resistance at $0.1855

Immutable X’s IMX token surged 9.25% as strong buying pressure drove the latest rally. The token now trades above major moving averages while approaching key resistance near USD 0.1855.

Technical indicators also support the short-term advance. Still, several momentum readings show overbought conditions, which could increase the risk of a near-term pullback.

Meanwhile, stronger NFT activity and continued development across Immutable’s gaming ecosystem have added broader context to the price recovery.

IMX Price Momentum Builds Near Key Resistance

IMX/USD trades above its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages. Those levels currently stand at USD 0.1372, USD 0.1267, and USD 0.1427, respectively.

The positioning confirms bullish momentum across several time horizons. However, the broader structure still carries bearish signals because the 50-day average remains below the 200-day benchmark.

Immediate resistance sits at USD 0.1855, while near-term support stands around USD 0.1562. Therefore, the next price reaction around those levels could shape the token’s short-term direction.

The latest advance has already pushed IMX toward the USD 0.20 psychological zone. During Monday’s session, the token reached an intraday high of USD 0.1945 following rapid upward expansion.

That question has become more important because the rally follows a strong move from lower September levels. At the same time, the token remains far below its November 2021 all-time high of USD 9.50.

Technical Indicators Signal Strength and Overbought Risk

The MACD and ADX indicators remain supportive of further upside momentum. Both measures point to strong trend conditions during the current advance. Meanwhile, the Relative Strength Index stands at 75.694. That reading places IMX firmly inside overbought territory and signals that recent gains have developed rapidly.

The Stochastic RSI and Commodity Channel Index also show overbought conditions. As a result, the technical picture combines strong momentum with increasing risk of short-term corrective pressure.

Positive Bull Bear Power readings continue to show buyer control. The Awesome Oscillator also remains bullish, confirming stronger intraday demand.

Still, some corrective pressure emerged after the strong opening move. That behavior remains consistent with elevated momentum indicators following a rapid price increase.

Daily volatility stands at 5.44%, showing that price swings remain elevated. Earlier technical assessments had already identified constructive momentum and strong buyer participation during intraday trading.

The latest session strengthens that pattern. Even so, USD 0.1855 remains the key resistance level for any sustained upside breakout.

NFT Growth Adds Context to Immutable’s Recovery

IMX’s rally also developed alongside stronger activity across the broader NFT market. Global NFT sales increased 57.17% during the latest seven-day reporting period.

Total sales reached approximately USD 55.51 million. At the same time, buyer addresses increased 39.65% to 160,565. NFT transactions also rose 5.93% to 825,513. Ethereum remained the largest blockchain by sales after producing USD 30.33 million in weekly volume.

Ethereum NFT sales increased 113.52% during the period. Meanwhile, Immutable also appeared among networks benefiting from stronger market activity.

Guild of Guardians Heroes, which operates on Immutable-Zk, recorded about USD 986,168 in weekly NFT sales during the previous reporting period.

The collection completed 689 transactions involving 390 buyers and 399 sellers. Its sales increased 3.5% during the seven days measured through September 19.

These figures provide ecosystem context for IMX’s recovery. However, they do not prove that NFT sales directly caused the token’s price increase. Crypto prices can also respond to liquidity, speculative demand, technical positioning, and broader market conditions.

Immutable’s gaming ecosystem remains another important part of the token’s market backdrop. The network supports blockchain-enabled games and infrastructure for digital asset ownership. Might & Magic: Fates represents one notable title within that ecosystem. Immutable’s gaming portal lists the Ubisoft-linked tactical card game as launching on February 4, 2026.

The game operates on mobile and Steam. It combines card collection, tactical structures, and competitive battles while expanding Immutable’s exposure to established gaming franchises.

As a result, traders continue to watch whether IMX can hold its breakout after approaching USD 0.20. The USD 0.1945 intraday high provides the nearest reference above current resistance. Meanwhile, the sharp rise in trading activity shows that the latest move attracted stronger market participation than the previous session.

  • iPhone 18 India Launch: Leaked Specs, Display, Cameras, and Pricing for 2027

iPhone 18 India Launch: Leaked Specs, Display, Cameras, and Pricing for 2027

Apple’s standard iPhone 18 is expected to launch in India during spring 2027, likely in March or April, according to recent leaks and analyst reports. The device was notably absent from Apple’s September 2026 event, which instead introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models alongside the iPhone Duo. This two-phase release strategy suggests Apple will spread its flagship lineup across separate launch windows.

    Display and Design

The iPhone 18 is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED panel with 120Hz ProMotion technology for smoother scrolling and better responsiveness. Peak brightness could reach up to 3,000 nits, enhancing outdoor visibility. Reports also indicate a smaller Dynamic Island, though these details remain speculative.

Pre-orders for God of War Laufey are set to begin on September 29 at 10 a.m. local time, as announced on the PlayStation blog. The highly anticipated title will officially launch on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Players will have two purchase options: a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition.

    Pre-Order Bonuses and Editions

Those who pre-order any edition will receive the Last Wish Armor Set, the Phranque Golden Leaves appearance, and an in-game resource pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Blade, Bow Scales, Catalyst, a resource pack, a digital artbook, and the original soundtrack.

Faye’s Serpent Bow: A New Combat Style

A recent blog post detailed Faye’s Serpent Bow, a versatile weapon effective at both close and long range. Players will have full aim control, allowing them to target specific enemy parts to slow them or interrupt attacks. Notably, Faye can charge up to five arrows and fire them simultaneously. A half-aim mode provides a faster hip-fire option when enemies are nearby, making combat more dynamic.

This new combat system shifts away from repetitive attacks, blending precision shots with rapid volleys and quick hip-fire. Santa Monica Studio is clearly differentiating Faye’s gameplay from previous God of War entries, promising a fresh experience for fans.

    Why Pre-Order Matters

For a major AAA release, early sales are crucial. Pre-order incentives encourage early purchases, while the higher-priced Digital Deluxe Edition offers additional revenue from dedicated fans seeking extra content.

God of War Laufey is still months away, but the studio is already building excitement with these detailed reveals. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches.

  • Zano Blockchain Restarts After Gateway Address Exploit, Begins Recovery and Reimbursement Process

Zano Blockchain Restarts After Gateway Address Exploit, Begins Recovery and Reimbursement Process

Privacy-focused blockchain Zano has successfully restarted its network from block 3,833,000 after a vulnerability in its Gateway Address feature allowed unauthorized ZANO and Freedom Dollar (fUSD) assets to enter circulation. The rollback removes nearly a month of blockchain history, including both the exploit-related activity and legitimate transactions recorded during that period.

The restart brings the chain back to the point just before Hard Fork 6, which introduced Gateway Addresses on August 26. Zano’s investigation confirmed that wallet spending keys and ordinary transaction privacy were not compromised. The project’s core consensus mechanism also remained unaffected.

Gateway Address Vulnerability Triggered the Crisis

Gateway Addresses were designed to simplify integration for exchanges, bridges, and other services by offering an account-style balance while preserving Zano’s privacy features. However, a flaw in the asset issuance process through these addresses enabled unauthorized ZANO and fUSD to enter circulation, prompting the emergency recovery.

Zano has not yet published a full technical post-mortem but has stated that a detailed explanation of the vulnerability, along with findings from a review of the Gateway Address code, will follow.

Exchanges and Network Operators Must Update

The recovery is not a simple software update controlled solely by Zano’s developers. Nodes, miners, stakers, pools, exchanges, and other services must install the emergency release and migrate to the recovered chain. Zano has advised users to verify that third-party wallets, exchanges, and payment services have completed the migration before sending funds. Since transactions confirmed during the affected period are not included on the restarted chain, users should retain transaction IDs and trading records and verify previous transfers before resending payments.

    Reimbursement Process Still Being Prepared

The rollback has created challenges for users and businesses whose legitimate transactions occurred during the affected month. Zano is working with affected projects and counterparties to assess losses and plans to publish a formal reimbursement and claims process. The team emphasized that the recovery will remove unauthorized activity without creating additional ZANO tokens. Zano has also begun restoring its own services individually as network participants migrate.

The project stated that Gateway Addresses will remain under review before being reactivated. Technical findings and conditions for safely restoring the feature are expected to provide more detail on the next stage of recovery.

  • Fireflies.ai Targets India as Fred Evolves From Meeting Note-Taker to Workplace AI Agent

Fireflies.ai Targets India as Fred Evolves From Meeting Note-Taker to Workplace AI Agent

India has emerged as a critical growth market for Fireflies.ai as the company expands its AI assistant Fred beyond simple meeting transcription and summaries. Fred is now being shaped into a full-fledged workplace AI agent that can handle routine follow-up tasks such as drafting emails, updating CRM records, and creating tasks, all based on conversations it has captured.

Fireflies.ai co-founder and CEO Krish Ramineni revealed that India is the company’s second-largest market by user count, with paid teams in the country tripling over the past two years. This rapid adoption is influencing both product development and pricing strategy, with the company planning a lower-cost tier specifically for Indian users.

From Meeting Notes to Workplace Execution

Fireflies initially gained traction as a tool that records, transcribes, and summarizes meetings. Now, Fred is evolving into a broader workplace companion. The platform connects meeting insights with email, CRM systems, and project-management software, enabling Fred to draft follow-up emails, update records, create tasks, and organize post-conversation information. Fireflies currently offers more than 200 AI skills across its platform.

The company has also ventured into voice agents, which can conduct certain calls and automatically prepare summaries and transfer data into business systems. Fireflies reports that its voice agents have handled over 40,000 conversations globally.

“Fireflies.ai started as an AI meeting assistant and note-taker. From day one, the vision was to build a personal assistant that helps with your work,” Ramineni shared. “Back then, we were experimenting with chatbots and Slack bots, but the technology was too early, and there were no LLMs. We eventually went all in on meetings, and the note-taker found product-market fit quickly.”

India Shapes Product and Pricing Plans

India’s growing user base is directly influencing Fireflies’ roadmap. The platform already supports 11 Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, and Marathi, as part of its broader language coverage. A lower-cost pricing tier tailored to the Indian market is also in development.

Ramineni confirmed plans to continue hiring from India’s deep technology and AI talent pool. Fireflies operates as a fully remote company with employees distributed across multiple locations rather than concentrated in a single office.

AI Takes on More Routine Work

The broader strategy is to transform Fireflies from a tool that simply records discussions into one that helps complete follow-up work. Ramineni draws a clear line between routine execution and decisions requiring human judgment. Tasks such as screening, qualification, drafting, routing, and follow-ups can be automated, while hiring decisions, financial choices, and other high-impact judgments should remain under human control.

For Fireflies, India’s rapid adoption provides both a large user base and a real-world testing ground for this shift as workplace AI moves further from note-taking toward active task execution.

  • Personal AI Agent Developer Instinct Secures $1 Billion Series C at $10 Billion Valuation

Personal AI Agent Developer Instinct Secures $1 Billion Series C at $10 Billion Valuation

Instinct, a San Francisco-based startup building personal AI agents, has raised $1 billion in a Series C funding round, pushing its valuation to $10 billion. The round was backed by Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital, and Coatue, signaling strong investor confidence in autonomous AI assistants.

The company previously raised $250 million, bringing total pre-Series C funding to $350 million. Reports earlier this month hinted at the $1 billion raise at a $10 billion valuation. Instinct is developing an AI agent that goes beyond answering questions — it can autonomously perform everyday tasks like booking trips, ordering groceries, canceling subscriptions, and making phone calls through its new Concierge service.

Instinct has also introduced inter-agent communication, allowing multiple Instinct agents to coordinate plans and share files such as documents, images, and spreadsheets. The company remains in early access but has already attracted over 100,000 users, facing capacity pressure from rising demand. The fresh capital will help expand infrastructure and bring the product to more consumers.

Competition in the personal AI space is heating up. Meta recently launched Muse, a task-oriented AI assistant. Instinct’s funding gives it substantial resources to develop privacy and security measures, including isolated environments, temporary credentials, and execution controls. The company aims to turn its early-access product into a widely used consumer service as demand for truly autonomous personal agents continues to grow.

  • How a Teen Entrepreneur Transformed an AI Ban Into a Job Platform for Neurodivergent Candidates

How a Teen Entrepreneur Transformed an AI Ban Into a Job Platform for Neurodivergent Candidates

From School Ban to Startup Success

Seventeen-year-old Navya Tuteja, a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia, turned a school-wide ban on ChatGPT into the inspiration for her AI startup, Raaha. The platform, which she built herself, is designed to help neurodivergent job seekers evaluate whether a job listing aligns with their needs before they apply.

Since its launch, Raaha has attracted over 1,000 users and indexed more than 20,000 job listings, according to reports. Tuteja currently offers the platform free of charge as she continues to refine the product.

    What Inspired Raaha

The idea for Raaha grew from Tuteja’s personal experiences. Her mother is hard of hearing, and Tuteja noticed that many job advertisements aimed at neurodivergent candidates focus heavily on employer expectations while offering little insight into the actual workplace environment. Raaha aims to close that gap by analyzing job descriptions across multiple factors, giving candidates a clearer picture of whether a role might suit their needs.

Tuteja has also considered a future business model where employers and workforce organizations could pay to use the platform or to improve their job postings for inclusivity.

    Navigating an AI Ban

Interestingly, Tuteja’s own school Wi-Fi blocks access to ChatGPT, Claude, and other generative AI tools. She says the restriction forced her to rely less on AI during school hours and to handle learning and exam preparation independently. However, she does not advocate for outright bans. As president of her school’s AI club, she uses AI for practical tasks like drafting emails and organizing information.

For Raaha, Tuteja wrote the core algorithm herself and used AI primarily for mechanical aspects of website design. She emphasizes the importance of transparency in AI usage.

    Another Project: Legible

Beyond Raaha, Tuteja created Legible, a tool that translates complex special-education documents—such as IEPs and 504 plans—into simpler language for families. Concerned that AI-generated summaries sometimes omit critical sources, she developed a transparency framework called Traceable Accessibility. She has discussed this framework with state lawmakers and the U.S. Department of Education.

    What’s Next

Tuteja plans to attend college but says she could consider running Raaha full-time if the startup continues to grow.
