  • Flare FXRP Lending Hits $1M in Hours as Bitwise XRP ETF Outflow Sparks Questions

Flare FXRP Lending Hits $1M in Hours as Bitwise XRP ETF Outflow Sparks Questions

Flare’s new FXRP/RLUSD lending market saw $1 million borrowed within hours of its launch, while a reported $3.58 million outflow from the Bitwise XRP ETF drew market attention. Available records do not confirm a bearish XRP trade by Bitwise.

FXRP Lending Demand Quickly Absorbs Initial RLUSD

FXRP became the first XRP-based collateral approved for Sentora’s institutionally curated RLUSD vault on Ethereum mainnet. The wider vault holds about $280 million in deposits. Flare launched the separate FXRP/RLUSD market with a 5 million RLUSD supply cap. It initially supplied 1 million RLUSD, which borrowers fully used within hours.

Risk clearance has since approved an expansion of the supply cap to roughly 9 million RLUSD, providing additional capacity if demand continues. Around 150 million FXRP currently circulates across the market. About 34.5 million FXRP already serves as collateral on Mystic Finance, Flare’s native Morpho deployment.

The Ethereum market operates separately through Sentora. Flare’s FTSOv2 oracle supplies FXRP pricing on Flare, while Sentora uses ChainlinkOracleV2 infrastructure on Ethereum. This structure allows XRP holders to access RLUSD liquidity without first selling their FXRP collateral.

Bitwise XRP ETF Outflow Reflects Redemption Activity

Separately, social media accounts reported a $3.58 million outflow from the Bitwise XRP ETF on August 6. The flow reportedly occurred during the August 5 session. Available data supports a net redemption rather than a confirmed directional trade by Bitwise. The trust holds XRP on behalf of shareholders.

Authorized financial firms handle share creations and redemptions under the fund’s operating structure. Bitwise Investment Advisers sponsors the product. The ETF creates and redeems shares in blocks of 10,000 through authorized participants. Therefore, a net outflow means redemptions exceeded new share creation.

Does that redemption prove Bitwise expects XRP prices to fall? Public records currently provide no evidence supporting that interpretation. A redemption may result from portfolio rebalancing, liquidity needs, arbitrage, or an investor’s risk decision.

Fund Records Put Reported XRP Outflow in Context

Bitwise’s official page showed 293.93 million XRP in the trust on August 4. Those assets carried a value of about $314.39 million. The fund also reported 26.31 million shares outstanding and net assets near $314.37 million. Its net asset value stood at $11.95 per share.

However, the holdings page had not yet advanced to August 5 when checked. As a result, it could not confirm the reported $3.58 million reduction. The fund’s first-quarter filing also recorded earlier redemptions. It sold about 9.73 million XRP for share redemptions and transferred another 2.69 million XRP through in-kind redemptions.

Despite those transactions, XRP holdings rose from 131.22 million at year-end to 194.90 million by March 31. Holdings later reached 293.93 million by August 4. XRP traded near $1.07 on August 6, according to supplied market data. Its 24-hour range stood between $1.05 and $1.08.

The token remained about 70% below its July 2025 record of $3.65. Its market capitalization stood near $67 billion. Bitwise’s fund showed a year-to-date NAV return of negative 41.70% through July 30. Its NAV fell 0.76% on August 4.

The next confirmation will come from changes in daily holdings, shares outstanding, and net assets. Later SEC filings can also separate cash sales from in-kind XRP redemptions.

    Conclusion

Flare’s FXRP/RLUSD market recorded rapid borrowing demand, while Bitwise’s reported XRP ETF outflow reflected a redemption rather than a proven bearish trade. Updated Bitwise holdings and later SEC filings should provide clearer evidence about how the August 5 redemption settled.

  • Bitcoin Miners Offload BTC as Whales and ETFs Drive $1.2B Demand

Bitcoin Miners Offload BTC as Whales and ETFs Drive $1.2B Demand

Bitcoin is holding above $64,000 even as major mining firms send hundreds of coins to exchange-linked platforms. At the same time, large whale wallets and spot Bitcoin ETFs are showing renewed buying interest, creating a clear split between short-term selling pressure and institutional demand.

Miners Move Bitcoin to Exchange Platforms

On Thursday evening, MARA deposited 200 BTC to NYDIG, according to Lookonchain. Riot Platforms transferred another 381 BTC, worth roughly $24.5 million, around the same time. These exchange-related deposits can increase available supply if the coins are sold. MARA continues to hold more than $2.3 billion in Bitcoin despite reporting over $600 million in second-quarter losses.

The latest transfers follow reports that Bitcoin miners sold a record 32,000 BTC during the first quarter of 2026. That period also saw a sharp drop in network hash rate. Smaller mining operations have been under particular strain during the prolonged bear market. Poolin has filed for Chapter 11 protection in New Jersey and is seeking approval for a $52 million sale of its Texas mining properties.

Whale Accumulation Contrasts With Smaller Holder Selling

Santiment data shows wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC have accumulated more than 20,000 BTC since July 29. At current prices, that is approximately $1.2 billion. Meanwhile, smaller holders have continued to reduce their Bitcoin exposure. Santiment says this divergence improves the odds of Bitcoin trading above $70,000 and lowers the risk of a drop below $60,000.

That contrast raises a key question: can growing whale demand absorb sustained selling from miners while Bitcoin remains below a decisive breakout level? Analysts have linked recent price weakness to uncertainty around the CLARITY Act, limited directional movement, and the Coldcard hardware wallet hack, which involved about $120 million worth of Bitcoin.

ETF Inflows Return While Bitcoin Tests Resistance

SoSoValue data shows US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $754.69 million in net inflows this week. That pace puts the products on track for their strongest week since April. Demand has returned after a difficult June, when the funds saw their worst month since launch. Nexo analyst Liya Kalchev said ETF-related volumes offer an early sign of renewed institutional demand.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs also received more than $240 million on Wednesday. Kalchev added that the products have attracted more than half a billion dollars during August. Still, Bitcoin has not achieved a decisive upside breakout. Kalchev described the current bid as tactical rather than conviction-driven, with a clear move above $65,000 remaining important. Technical indicators suggest a larger rally could develop if Bitcoin clears resistance. Regulatory developments also remain in focus, with the CLARITY Act unlikely to pass the Senate this month.

Outlook: Can Institutional Demand Offset Miner Selling?

Bitcoin faces competing forces near $65,000. MARA and Riot have increased exchange-related transfers, while whales have accumulated more than 20,000 BTC and ETF inflows have strengthened. The market is now watching whether institutional demand can absorb miner supply as Bitcoin tests resistance and investors await regulatory clarity.

  • Sui’s Quantum-Safe Upgrade Preserves Existing Wallet Addresses With Post-Quantum Signatures

Sui’s Quantum-Safe Upgrade Preserves Existing Wallet Addresses With Post-Quantum Signatures

Sui is rolling out quantum-safe account security that lets users keep their current blockchain addresses while upgrading to post-quantum cryptography. The network will support ML-DSA-65 for standard accounts and SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s for high-value Move-based vaults, both designed to resist attacks from future quantum computers.

    Address Aliases Enable Seamless Migration

Normally, switching cryptographic schemes requires creating a new address and moving all assets—a disruptive process for tokens, NFTs, identities, and smart contracts. Sui’s Address Aliases system avoids that entirely. An account can authorize a new post-quantum signer while the original blockchain address remains the transaction sender. Once native ML-DSA support is live, users simply authorize the new signer and later make it the sole authorized signer.

Users can also derive an ML-DSA-65 key from their existing recovery phrase via a fresh derivation path, eliminating the need for a separate backup. Sui cautions that wallet software must clearly communicate the authority granted when adding an alias.

Two Cryptographic Systems for Different Needs

Sui splits quantum protection across two NIST‑standardized schemes:

    • ML-DSA-65 (FIPS 204, NIST Category 3) – a lattice‑based signature chosen for frequent transactions because it balances a strong security margin with practical verification speed.
    • SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s (FIPS 205, Category 1) – a hash‑based system reserved for high‑value vaults, providing a different mathematical foundation so that a weakness in lattice‑based crypto does not compromise all assets.

This dual approach lets developers replace the vault authentication scheme via smart‑contract upgrades if future cryptanalysis reveals flaws in one family.

    Larger Signatures Shape Deployment Timeline

Post‑quantum signatures are bulkier than Ed25519: ML-DSA-65 signatures are 3,309 bytes (public key: 1,952 bytes), while SLH-DSA‑SHA2‑128s signatures reach 7,856 bytes. Despite the size increase, Sui notes that ML-DSA verification performance is close enough to Ed25519 that per‑signature network costs need not rise.

    The rollout is staged:

    • Quantum‑safe vaults on Mainnet before end of 2026.
    • Native ML-DSA-65 accounts on Testnet by late 2026 and Mainnet in Q1 2027.
    • Wallet, SDK, and CLI support alongside independent audits and Testnet feedback.

No immediate action is required from existing users. The migration is additive and optional, with clear warnings about potential scams that ask users to move all assets to a new address.

    Conclusion

Sui’s quantum‑safe upgrade uses ML-DSA-65 accounts and SLH-DSA vaults while preserving existing addresses via Address Aliases. Users need do nothing now; audits, testing, and phased deployment continue.

  • BlockchainFX Closes $15M BFX Presale, Pre-Launch Window Opens Before August 10 Announcement

BlockchainFX Closes $15M BFX Presale, Pre-Launch Window Opens Before August 10 Announcement

BlockchainFX has closed its $15 million BFX presale after reaching the hard cap, transitioning into the final pre-launch phase. The project’s team will announce the official launch date on August 10 at 3:00 PM UTC.

BlockchainFX successfully ended its BFX crypto presale after hitting the $15 million funding target, marking a shift from private fundraising to preparations for public trading. During this pre-launch window, buyers can still acquire BFX at the fixed price of $0.04 per token before the stated launch price of $0.05. The presale structure will not be available after this window closes, and existing holders have the opportunity to adjust their positions before open-market trading begins. The August 10 announcement will outline the timeline for the next stage, including when trading starts and how exchange liquidity will roll out.

BlockchainFX has also introduced the LAUNCH80 bonus code for the final pre-launch period. This code grants an 80% bonus to a buyer’s token allocation. For example, a purchase that normally provides 100,000 BFX would receive an additional 80,000 BFX through the code, resulting in 180,000 BFX from that purchase. The offer is exclusive to the current pre-launch window and will not apply once the presale structure ends.

With fundraising complete, attention now turns to the planned BlockchainFX trading platform, which aims to connect traditional markets—including forex and stocks—with decentralized technology. The project’s multi-asset approach seeks to integrate different markets into a single trading ecosystem. The team reports that audits have been completed as part of the rollout preparations. The August 10 announcement will provide the timetable for the transition into public trading. Until then, BlockchainFX remains in its pre-launch phase, with market participants awaiting official launch timing and exchange liquidity details.

BlockchainFX has reached its $15 million hard cap and entered the final pre-launch phase. BFX is still priced at $0.04 before the $0.05 launch price. The next key event is the August 10 announcement, when the team will reveal the official launch schedule.

  • Bitcoin Holds Near $64,350 as ETF Inflows Surge Ahead of Key Jobs Report

Bitcoin Holds Near $64,350 as ETF Inflows Surge Ahead of Key Jobs Report

Bitcoin traded near $64,354.99 on Friday, holding a tight range through the session as spot ETF inflows snapped a longer stretch of outflows. The leading cryptocurrency consolidated after testing $64,920 earlier in the week, with analysts flagging $65,000 as the critical level to watch. Traders now turn to today’s US jobs report for direction, while the stalled CLARITY Act adds to cautious sentiment.

    Bitcoin Price Today

Bitcoin stood at $64,354.99, broadly flat over the past 24 hours, according to live CoinMarketCap data. Its market cap hovered near $1.29 trillion, with 24-hour trading volume reaching $21.64 billion. Price action remains tied to ETF flows, the jobs report, and legislative headlines.

    Analyst Insights

Bitcoin Attempts $65,000 Reclaim Ahead of Jobs Data, Says Mudrex

Prateek Gupta, Head of Business at Mudrex, noted that Bitcoin is attempting to reclaim the $65,000 level ahead of today’s US jobs report. The market is approaching a critical technical and liquidity zone, with $65,000 emerging as the largest short-liquidation cluster. He added that institutional demand continues to grow, with spot Bitcoin ETFs attracting $626 million in net inflows over three sessions. A weekly close above $65,000 could open the path toward $70,000, while a close below $63,000 may expose Bitcoin to $60,000.

BTC Stays Range-Bound Between $64,000 and $65,000, Says CoinSwitch

According to CoinSwitch Markets Desk, BTC remained range-bound between $64,000 and $65,000 after testing the upper end of the range. Repeated rejections near $65,000 indicate continued selling pressure. Near-term support sits at $64,350-$64,400, and a break below this zone could expose $64,200. Reclaiming $64,600 may pave the way toward $64,800-$65,000.

Institutional Demand Offsets Rate Uncertainty, Says Giottus

Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus, placed Bitcoin near $64,300, with improving institutional demand offset by uncertainty over US interest rates. Spot ETFs received about $626 million between August 3 and August 5, helping buyers defend the $63,000-$64,000 region. However, these inflows have not been strong enough to clear the larger resistance zone between $66,000 and $66,600. He advised staggering purchases and keeping leverage low until Bitcoin clears $66,600 or loses $63,000 support.

Bitcoin Consolidates Ahead of Employment Data, Says Delta Exchange

Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst at Delta Exchange, said Bitcoin is trading around $64,400, with the market consolidating ahead of the US employment report. Resilient labor data and renewed crude strength keep inflation expectations in focus. A softer print could ease yields and support risk assets. Bitcoin is holding the $64,000-$64,200 support zone. A break above $64,750-$65,000 could open $65,250-$65,600, while a move below $64,000 may expose $62,400-$63,100.

Crypto Prices Today: Top 10 Coins at a Glance

The broader market holds steady, with majors posting mild gains. Hyperliquid led the top 10 board with a gain near 3.7%, followed by XRP and Dogecoin with daily gains above 1%. Crypto News Today: Top Headlines Impacting Prices

Bitcoin ETFs Post Third Straight Inflow Day

US spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $244.4 million on Wednesday, extending a three-day streak to $626 million. BlackRock’s IBIT fund led the run, capturing $479 million of the total. The August run has yet to record a single outflow day, a sharp reversal from July’s choppier flows.

CLARITY Act Faces Recess Deadline Pressure

The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act remains stalled on the Senate calendar as the chamber’s summer recess begins around August 7. Ethics language disputes continue to block bipartisan support. A Franklin Templeton executive noted that passage would unlock federal preemption and bring bank liquidity into crypto.

Coldcard Firmware Flaw Keeps Custody Worries Alive

A firmware bug tied to Coldcard hardware wallets has been linked to nearly $100 million in stolen Bitcoin this month. The exploit has driven dormant address movement as affected holders rush to secure funds. Whale Alert flagged a 6,196 BTC transfer worth nearly $397 million between unknown wallets this week.

US Jobs Report Set to Drive Today’s Session

Traders are bracing for today’s Non-Farm Payrolls report. A soft print could ease Treasury yields, while strong data may revive September rate hike bets. The Fed held rates steady at 3.50-3.75% in July, with three officials favoring a hike.

Zcash and Cardano Lead Altcoin Momentum

Zcash extended its rally with a weekly gain above 5.9%, pressing a key triangle breakout pattern. Cardano posted a sharp seven-day gain above 15%, outpacing most large-cap peers. Analysts tied Cardano’s strength to progress on its Ouroboros Leios scaling protocol.

Tether Expands Tokenization Push in Saudi Arabia

Tether announced plans to launch its Hadron tokenization platform in Saudi Arabia, starting with institutional real estate assets. The move aligns with the kingdom’s Vision 2030 diversification initiative but has limited near-term impact on Bitcoin’s price.

    Investor and Market Outlook

Bitcoin holds near $64,350 as traders weigh a third straight ETF inflow day against a stalled CLARITY Act. Today’s jobs report stands as the session’s key catalyst. A close above $65,000 could open a path toward $66,600 resistance. A slip below $63,000 risks exposing deeper support closer to $60,000. Zcash and Cardano remain the most sensitive names to shifts in altcoin risk appetite. Next week’s inflation print stands as the market’s next defining catalyst.

  • Why Onchain Data Verification Is Critical for Blockchain Trust and Security

Why Onchain Data Verification Is Critical for Blockchain Trust and Security

Every blockchain data provider claims their product is verifiable. The problem is that few of them mean the same thing, and that gap has become a critical issue as more capital moves through automated systems and smart contracts that rely on accurate onchain data.

The simplest approach to data extraction involves a team pulling data directly from blockchain nodes via JSON-RPC, extracting blocks, transactions, and logs, then loading them into a custom pipeline. With some human curation—people checking numbers and catching anomalies—this setup works well for small to medium projects. However, it does not scale effectively. When a provider using this pipeline calls its data verifiable, it typically means the numbers can be spot-checked against another source and the methodology is open to manual audit. This is a real capability, but it is far from cryptographic proof and still requires trusting that someone extracted and curated the data honestly.

That trust gap has shifted from a nuisance to a liability. Most applications accept whatever an RPC endpoint returns at face value, meaning compromised infrastructure can feed convincing but incorrect data into downstream systems. This is not hypothetical. In April 2026, attackers manipulated the RPC infrastructure behind a verification layer tied to KelpDAO, contributing to a loss estimated at around $290 million. No blockchain cryptography was broken. Instead, the trust chain was exploited. As more capital flows through agents and treasuries that execute automatically, bad data becomes a security issue rather than a quality issue.

Teams requiring stronger verification typically choose among three approaches, and only one fully earns the descriptor without an asterisk.

    1-of-N Trust Model

The first is a 1-of-N trust model. Instead of relying on a single provider, work is distributed across many independent participants. Correctness becomes contestable: it takes just one honest party to catch bad data and hold the offender accountable. The Graph’s decentralized network uses this model, where Indexers submit Proofs of Indexing, and other participants can challenge results they believe are incorrect. Disputes go to arbitration, and an Indexer caught serving bad data is slashed. The math is compelling. With five participants, each having a 20% chance of using a faulty RPC, a consensus model requiring majority agreement has about a 5.8% chance that the majority is wrong and bad data wins. Under a 1-of-N model, corruption only slips through if all five participants fail simultaneously, about 0.03% risk, making it nearly two orders of magnitude safer. This gap explains why 1-of-N scales better as networks grow.

However, this model has a flaw. A gateway pulling from multiple Indexers can receive correct data from two sources and bad data from a third. Until the dispute resolves, users may see flickering between correct and incorrect data. Developers often prefer consistently wrong data over visibly inconsistent data, a real tradeoff in permissionless systems that centralized systems typically hide.

    Consensus Model

The second approach is consensus, which is often confused with 1-of-N. This distinction matters because the two models make fundamentally different bets. Consensus treats majority agreement as a stand-in for correctness, as Chainlink’s oracle network does. The problem is that a majority can be wrong. If enough participants collude or are compromised, the entire agreement mechanism breaks down.

    Verifiable Extraction

The third approach deserves the term without qualification. Verifiable extraction bypasses the question of whom to trust and instead relies on the blockchain’s cryptographic commitments: the hashes linking every block, transaction, and log in a way that cannot be altered without detection. Edge & Node’s Amp recomputes these commitments during data extraction, before the data becomes queryable, checking Keccak-256 hashes and Merkle Patricia Tries against the block header. If anything has been tampered with, the mismatch appears immediately. StreamingFast’s verifiable extraction for Firehose closes the remaining gap by proving that a specific block belongs to the chain’s actual canonical history, not just that the extracted data matches the header it claims. Together, these cover the full claim: the data is faithful to the block, and the block is real, and anyone can recompute both independently.

However, this approach has costs. Recomputing commitments and reconstructing proofs requires computational work, so the most rigorously verified data tends to arrive slower than a raw, unchecked feed. The blockchain data trilemma—fast, comprehensive, verifiable, pick your tradeoffs—does not disappear just because a team has chosen the strongest form of verification. Even cryptographic verification has a boundary: it proves data was processed and preserved correctly, but not that the original source was honest. That is a different problem, the oracle problem, and it remains unsolved.

The real issue is the weight the word is being asked to carry. “Verifiable” is applied to benchmarkable transparency, majority agreement, and cryptographic proof as if they are interchangeable guarantees with different marketing. They are not. They fail in different ways, under different conditions, for different reasons. For anyone building a system where a wrong number costs real money, this distinction is not academic. It is the entire ballgame.

  • Crypto Market Update: Bitcoin ETFs Net $244M, Russia Passes Landmark Crypto Law, Pi Network Rises 10%

Crypto Market Update: Bitcoin ETFs Net $244M, Russia Passes Landmark Crypto Law, Pi Network Rises 10%

The cryptocurrency market experienced significant developments this week, with spot Bitcoin ETFs recording substantial inflows, Russia enacting its first comprehensive crypto law, and Pi Network posting double-digit gains. Here’s a breakdown of the top stories shaping the crypto landscape.

Bitcoin ETFs See $244 Million in Net Inflows

According to data from SoSoValue, spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted a total net inflow of $244.42 million on the latest trading day. BlackRock’s IBIT led the pack with $196.83 million in net inflows, followed by Ark Invest and 21Shares’ ARKB, which added $37.63 million. On the outflow side, VanEck’s HODL recorded $14.67 million in net outflows.

The total net asset value of Bitcoin spot ETFs now stands at $79.21 billion, representing an ETF net asset ratio of 6.09%. Historical cumulative net inflows have reached $51.95 billion, underscoring sustained institutional interest in Bitcoin exposure through regulated vehicles.

Russia Signs First Full Crypto Law

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the country’s first comprehensive crypto law on Tuesday, codifying rules for crypto exchanges, custodians, mining, and digital asset issuance. The nearly 300-page Law on Digital Currencies and Digital Rights will take effect on September 1.

Key provisions include licensing requirements for crypto exchange operators, which must register with a self-regulatory organization and hold minimum capital of 15 million rubles (approximately $187,000). The law also introduces a new category of ‘non-qualified’ retail investors, allowing them to purchase up to 300,000 rubles ($3,800) of approved cryptocurrency per year through a single licensed intermediary and send up to 100,000 rubles abroad.

Additionally, the Central Bank will oversee new digital depositories to record ownership, mirroring the tracking system used for traditional securities.

Bhutan Appoints 3iQ to Manage Bitcoin Treasury

Bhutan has appointed Canadian digital asset manager 3iQ Corp. to oversee a portion of its Bitcoin treasury allocated to Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC). This marks one of the first publicly disclosed institutional asset management mandates tied to a sovereign Bitcoin reserve, signaling a shift from government-led accumulation to professionally managed digital asset portfolios.

While the size of the Bitcoin allocation was not disclosed, 3iQ will have discretionary authority to manage part of GMC’s reserve under a long-term investment strategy. The agreement also commits 3iQ to establish a permanent presence in Bhutan and support local digital asset expertise.

XRP Ledger Proposes On-Chain Cosigner Feature

Developers Shawn Xie, Zhiyuan Wang, Chenna Keshava B S, and Mayukha Vadari introduced the On-Chain Cosigner proposal in the XRP Ledger standards repository. The initiative aims to modernize multi-signature transaction coordination directly within the network, eliminating reliance on external communication channels and centralized servers.

Currently, XRPL supports multi-signature transactions but requires off-chain approval collection through manual processes. With On-Chain Cosigner, requests would be stored as native TransactionProposal objects on the blockchain, validating each signature in real time and enhancing security for institutional asset custody.

    Pi Network Price Jumps 10%

Pi Network’s token gained more than 10% over the past week, trading near $0.0872 after hitting a daily high of $0.0902. The 24-hour trading volume surged 75% to approximately $11.5 million, indicating increased market participation.

The price recovery is supported by the Protocol 26 upgrade and a new RoboPay integration, which boosted short-term demand. On the 4-hour chart, PI is pressing against the upper Bollinger Band at $0.08824, overlapping with the $0.088–$0.090 resistance zone that has capped several recovery attempts since late July.

8 Must-Know Crypto Apps for Investors: Trading, Staking, and Security Compared

Cryptocurrency investing has become far more accessible thanks to powerful mobile apps that combine trading, portfolio tracking, staking, and secure wallets in one place. Choosing the right platform, however, depends on several factors, including security, supported cryptocurrencies, fees, and overall user experience. Before entering the digital asset market with confidence, here are eight popular crypto apps every investor should know.

Bitcoin Eyes $75K as ETF Inflows, Macro Tailwinds and Short Squeeze Potential Build Momentum for Breakout Above $65K

Bitcoin is once again testing a critical resistance zone, with traders watching closely to see if the world’s leading cryptocurrency can break above $65,000 and gain momentum toward the $75,000 range in the third quarter of 2026. Sustained institutional demand, improving macroeconomic conditions, and the potential for a massive short squeeze are rallying bulls, though leveraged positioning continues to pose downside risks.

    Heavy Leverage Creates Breakout Potential

Bitcoin has traded in the $60,000–$65,000 range for over two months, leading to a buildup of leveraged positions on both sides. According to Lookonchain, a newly created wallet deposited $2.44 million in USDC into Hyperliquid with 40x leverage and initiated a short position of 1,600 BTC—worth roughly $102.6 million. The liquidation price for that position is $64,888.97, very near Bitcoin’s current trading level.

This concentration of leverage in the $64,000–$65,000 zone increases the likelihood of sharp price moves. If Bitcoin fails to break resistance, highly leveraged long positions could be forced to unwind, adding selling pressure. However, a breakout above $65,000 could trigger a short squeeze, forcing the large short seller to cover and potentially accelerating Bitcoin’s upward momentum.

Market sentiment remains cautious. Santiment data shows Bitcoin’s positive-to-negative social sentiment ratio dropped to 0.54 since July 31, with bearish discussions outnumbering bullish ones nearly two to one. Historically, such extreme pessimism has often preceded market recoveries.

    Macro Conditions Continue to Improve

The macroeconomic backdrop has turned more favorable toward risk assets. Hopes of easing geopolitical tensions rose after Tehran confirmed that talks with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz were in their final stages. Lower oil prices could help relieve inflationary pressures and reduce expectations of tighter monetary policy.

Recent U.S. economic data reinforced this outlook. The ADP report showed private-sector job growth of only 44,000 in July, well below market expectations, while the ISM Services PMI came in slightly below forecasts. Following the softer data, the CME FedWatch tool estimated the probability of a September Federal Reserve rate hike falling to around 55%, down from 67% earlier in the week.

Institutional demand remained strong. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $244.42 million on Wednesday, according to SoSoValue, marking the third consecutive day of inflows. If Bitcoin manages to breach the $65,000 resistance, continued ETF purchases and easing rate hike fears could provide further support.

With leverage still elevated and volatility expected to rise, the general outlook points to Bitcoin moving toward the $75,000 level by the end of the third quarter, backed by a combination of macro tailwinds, consistent institutional inflows, and the possibility of a massive short squeeze.

    FAQs

    1. Why is the $65,000 level important for Bitcoin?
The $65,000 area is a major resistance zone where both buyers and sellers have built large leveraged positions. A breakout above this level could trigger significant short liquidations and accelerate upward momentum.
    2. How could a short squeeze push Bitcoin toward $75,000?
A large 40x leveraged short position sits near its liquidation level. If Bitcoin rises above that threshold, forced buying from short sellers could amplify the rally and drive prices higher.
    3. Why are Bitcoin ETF inflows important?
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $244.42 million in net inflows according to SoSoValue. Continued institutional buying helps support demand and can provide additional momentum during bullish market conditions.
    4. How do lower Fed rate expectations benefit Bitcoin?
Softer U.S. economic data reduced expectations of a September Fed rate hike. Lower interest rate expectations generally improve liquidity and increase investor appetite for risk assets like Bitcoin.
    5. What are the biggest risks to Bitcoin’s bullish outlook?
If Bitcoin fails to break above resistance, heavily leveraged long positions could be liquidated, increasing selling pressure. Broader macroeconomic uncertainty or weakening institutional demand could also limit upside momentum.
