Smart glasses are emerging as the next major computing platform, enabling users to make calls, send messages, navigate, and use AI assistants without ever pulling out a smartphone. This shift is happening in stages, and experts predict that by 2030, glasses could become the primary way people access apps and the internet.
Modern smart glasses already handle 60–70% of everyday smartphone tasks through voice commands, hand gestures, and AI-powered assistants. Users can send texts, translate languages in real time, get directions, and capture photos completely hands-free. However, phones remain essential for gaming, video editing, multitasking, and complex applications.
Lightweight designs, stylish frames, real-time translation, navigation overlays, and proactive AI are driving rapid adoption across global markets, including India’s tech hubs. Despite these advances, battery life, limited app ecosystems, privacy concerns, and social acceptance still prevent smart glasses from fully replacing smartphones—for now.
